I'd be forever resentful if that were to be the case.

My birth name was "Nicholson"...then, when our mother re-married it changed into "Hill"...that surname lasted longer than the monster who bore the name - he got the boot, thankfully, after a few years (by the cops).

"Hill" surname lated until I married the first time. I've been married twice, as I'm sure you recall. I've kept "George", my second husband's surname. Primarily because I like the name and believe it sits well with my first name. Secondly, I couldn't be bothered going through all the rigmarole involved in changing it.

I am who I am...a thorny rose by any name, but one who prefers to be called by her first name - a rose by any other name would smell as sweet! Which reminds me I must top up my perfume supplies! :)Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15835982875620956300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13883584.post-61468931125283685482017-01-28T23:09:48.172+00:002017-01-28T23:09:48.172+00:00I can see how your names might lead to confusion. ...I can see how your names might lead to confusion. As for the appellation "Mrs", it is noteworthy that when a bacheLor gets married he remains a "Mr". There is no change to indicate that he is now a married man. Although my wife bears my surname in the traditional manner, I rather think that if the boot had been on the other foot I would have felt somewhat resentful about changing my birth surname.Yorkshire Puddinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06019673884543913089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13883584.post-53672151871248352842017-01-28T23:04:12.316+00:002017-01-28T23:04:12.316+00:00I fear that you are right Kylie though I am not su...I fear that you are right Kylie though I am not sure that your opinion is in line with Salvation Army policy on this matter.Yorkshire Puddinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06019673884543913089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13883584.post-4245845448323920882017-01-28T22:07:48.057+00:002017-01-28T22:07:48.057+00:00If/when I have to communicate (written word) with ...If/when I have to communicate (written word) with anyone who does not know/has not met me in person I always place "(Ms)" after my name, to help clarify the situation for them.

It can be confusing to some if they've not met me in person. My name can be male or female...both my Christian name, "Lee" and my middle name "Frances" (although the spelling is different for the genders - but some aren't aware of that fact). To add to the "confusion" my surname is "George". You, perhaps, can understand some are confused; but then many are easily confused!

To confuse the confused even further, my name can be swung around either which way. "George Francis Lee" and other reversals...if I was a male; or a couple with the feminine spelling of "Frances", as well. And, of course, "Lee" can also be "Leigh"! I've rarely gotten the latter.

I'm never offended if, by written communication by strangers, I'm mistakenly called "Mr". I probably wouldn't be offended if I was mistakenly called "Mr" when face to face with a stranger, either. They would be the one who had the problem, not me. Their problem would be with their eyes and ears. To lighten their embarrassment, I'd even offer to make the necessary appointments for them.

I think what annoys me most (and probably only) is when people assume by saying or writing - "Mrs" when referring to me. I promptly set them straight. Politely, with a smile, I say (or write - without a smile) - '"Lee" is my name.' Even when I was married I cringed when called "Mrs". I don't know why...just a personal thing, I guess. I have a name and prefer to be called by that name.
Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15835982875620956300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13883584.post-91211064384485859052017-01-28T21:27:56.547+00:002017-01-28T21:27:56.547+00:00He wouldn't care in the slightest about which ...He wouldn't care in the slightest about which Teresa/ Theresa he was meeting. If it was a person sans penis, it would be ripe for exploitation and disrespect.kyliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08964475783207438103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13883584.post-71169563078693539532017-01-28T20:34:39.881+00:002017-01-28T20:34:39.881+00:00Perhaps we should have made the glamour model our ...Perhaps we should have made the glamour model our new PM.
