Feeding

On Wednesday, Little Phoebe was having dinner at our house. Spoon control was shared between my wife and the little princess herself. In the picture above you can see how she's tucking in to her dessert - banana slices in custard.
I chuckled as I observed how much dinner  had missed the cake hole. This is best seen in the next picture where evidence of her earlier lasagne bake can be seen on her nose, chin, cheeks and forehead.

It is to be hoped that by the time she reaches adulthood she will be able to hit the target with more precision.

She remains such a joy, brightening our lives as she progresses day by day. We are so privileged to see her so often and to play a significant role in her care and development. Sometimes we ache with love.

  1. My mom always said grandkids were the best because you could spoil them all day long and then send them home.

I know you’ve been busy and probably missed both posts but I was curious to see if you had ever been to Scapegoat Hill?

  2. This brings me back to the days when I had a couple of little beaners where eating was a challenge. They make up for it when they're teenagers.

    1. Do you ever dribble down your chin when eating Mr K?

  3. That girl has the most amazing eyes. She is blessed to have you two as grandparents. I enjoy watching Jack develop and grow. It seems like I never had time with my own children, always too busy doing laundry and doing dishes. I'm not in such a rush anymore.

  5. I would say gorgeous but that last photo is a bit yucky;) I am so glad that your granddaughter Phoebe gives both of you so much happiness.

  6. She is handling that spoon very well. I love it when they learn to feed themselves, but the cleanup isn't always such fun. I did have one child who loved his food so much he never spilled any.

    1. Poor little mites! Shirley tends to zoom in from behind when the meal is done singing, "This the way we clean her face, clean her face, clean her face..."

  9. Banana and custard. One of my comfort foods. Do you eat like that after a couple of pints. Maybe Phoebe is copying you!

  10. As what age were you able to hit the target with more precision. 21? 42? 65? or still hoping?

  11. I am sure she will soon master the art of handling a spoon, then fork and eventually knife.
Admittedly, I am still something of a messy eater with certain foods, especially the juicier fruits such as watermelon, oranges and mango.

    1. I know I should not say this but the image of watermelon and mango juice running down a German lady's chin is rather erotic.

  13. So Phoebe is left-handed? Many of my favorite people, including Mr. Moon are. Or is she just figuring that out too? What a little beauty she is.

    1. Well spotted Mary! We would prefer her to be right-handed but there's no way of changing her instinctive route. Sometimes she does lead with the right.

    2. I think that a disproportionate number of our presidents have been left-handed. I know that Barack Obama is. That's good enough for me.

  14. Bananas and custard sounds like our banana pudding! I'll bet Phoebe would love that...it's merely Nilla Wafers, banana creme pudding, and sliced bananas layered in a deep dish and served very cold. It's one of Gregg's favorite desserts.

Phoebe sure is cute, and she's growing fast.
