First there was Chaucer, then Shakespeare and Wordsworth, Shelley and Tennyson, Thomas Hardy and Ted Hughes. Now English poetry brings you Yorkshire Pudding! (Not the re-hydrating fellow in the picture below but the author of the sensitive and well-crafted ode beneath it).
I would like
to thump
Donald Trump
Drop the
chump in the city dump
With a bump
From a battered pick-up
truck
Cos who gives a
flying fig
About that big ugly lump
Inflated
with a hot air pump?
- Those who like Trump
Will now have the hump!
Now you're cooking, Mr Pudding!
ReplyDeleteHe really is a colossal chump.
Those pesky Yanks have put up front
A man who is a total charmer.
Ho! Ho! At first I didn't get it Claire but then I guessed the ghost rhyme at the end of the fourth line. You are so naughty!
DeleteAnd take his sons with him.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Ivanka!
DeleteWho looks like a bananka
When she's dressed in yellow
With that dumbass Kushner fellow
Compared to the things I say about Trump, I could almost get the impression you like the guy
ReplyDeleteIf only the Salvation Army could see inside your mind!
Deletehaha! how right you are!
DeleteIt sounds like you really don't like Trump! Good poem. It catches your attention.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever gave you the impression that I am not fond of D.Trump? I thought I kept my feelings well-hidden.
DeleteWell YP - I, for one, didn't realise that you didn't like him !!!It's to be hoped that you won't want to go to the States any time soon......
ReplyDeleteGulp! I hadn't thought about that CG! American immigration will have someone called Yorkshire Pudding on their blacklist but (hee-hee!) that's not my real name!
DeleteWhile I may not agree with all that President Trump stands for/does, he IS our President and deserving of the respect that goes with the office. Every President has had his flaws - some more than others, but then....don't we all? No doubt your poem is all in 'good fun' but next time you drop in for coffee, however, we should probably stick to non-political conversation just to be on the safe side ;-)
ReplyDeleteOkay that's a deal. No politics or religion when I call round for coffee. I just believe that America deserves a better man or woman as its president - someone who has genuine compassion, a world vision and isn't drunk on his own ego.
