This morning, I was sitting at this very computer when a yellow DHL van pulled up outside. A man in a DHL uniform jumped out with a package for me. He photographed it on our doorstep to prove that it had been delivered. This procedure is becoming quite common and of course the deliverers never seek permission to take those snaps.
A package for me? I wondered what on earth it might be. Inside the yellow DHL plastic bag was a cardboard box. Spotting it - that's when the penny dropped. My calendars had arrived!
I am delighted with the quality of the finished product. It's so professional. Perhaps I should have ordered more than the six I paid for. Now it's too late. The curtain has come down on the initiative which was hatched in order to boost Geograph funds.
Of course, I was obliged to include a cow...
It's a worthy project and you must be pleased to part of it.
ReplyDeleteTwelve years! Murderers often serve less time.
DeleteThat is an excellent project. I love calendars with personalized photos. The cow looks very judgmental though.
ReplyDeleteCows are wiser than we might think. That's why they like to chase me!
DeleteCongratulations for participating in such a large and important project.
ReplyDeleteI have been with it for twelve years now and my enthusiasm has not waned.
DeleteVery nice although I remain concerned about this bovine fixation of yours.
ReplyDeleteDo you think I need counselling?
DeleteI think that might be a good idea.
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteAccepted gracefully.
DeleteIt must be a great feeling to have a calendar of your own photos!
ReplyDeleteLord knows that I have put so much time and energy into gathering my Geograph images. It's nice to celebrate them.
DeleteI hope you will be sharing each month's page with us throughout next year?
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a good idea JayCee but I will have to remember to do it!
DeleteYou could probably produce and market those - the Yorkshire Pudding 2022 calendar (at cost price of course beause of your generous nature). Would be good if they gave a choice of calendar formats and layouts - we prefer columns so you can see who is doing what when.
ReplyDeleteProduction is overseen by an unpaid Geograph member. I wouldn't wish to ask more of him but we also prefer column calendars.
DeleteWell done. It'll be a worthy keepsake even after 2022 is over. I'm told one of my photos is in our local park information centre's calendar. I'll find out next week and get some copies for presents!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see one's own photos in print. Makes you feel like a kid in a sweet shop.
DeleteThat's a wonderful calendar you have there. Yes, you should share each month with us.
ReplyDeleteOkay. I will try to remember Sue.
DeleteAlthough I hate the thought of all the carbon being spewn, getting easy two day deliveries to my door has been a paradigm shift in my life. It has allowed me to do things I wouldn't have done back when I had to travel for hours in many directions to get the parts I needed to tackle a project.
ReplyDeleteWith proper delivery planning the arrival of a delivery van could be reducing carbon footprints. I mean, the van driver may well be delivering to other homes in the region - saving many unnecessary journeys.
DeleteHow splendid! And I am so glad that you included a cow.
ReplyDeleteI could have easily made a whole calendar of cows!
DeleteThey look great! The cow is a perfect photo for a summery month.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that the project meets with your approval Steve.
Deletesuch a lovely idea to have a calendar with all your own snaps.

There are online photo companies that also produce personalised calendars. You could make one yourself Briony. Maybe cats would feature in it!
DeleteExcellent YP - and those eyelashes on the cow make me green with envy! Was she, perchance called June?
ReplyDeleteFor 2023, you will have to produce one including pictures of the adorable Phoebe.
According to the yellow ear tags, she was called Carol. Purely co-incidental.
DeleteYou know that I have calendars made with my (and sometimes your) photos every year for my friends and family as Chrismas gifts; 2022 will probably have a woodland or trees theme. I need to start soon, as it takes time to sift through my archive of pictures and choose the ones I feel are best suited, then filling in the online order form and have the calendars printed and delivered.
ReplyDeleteAlways a great moment when they arrive and I open one to check the quality.
