289

This is Day 333 of 2021. If that is true, how come I have only created 289 blogposts - including this one? Somehow  there have been 45 days on which I have not posted a fresh blogpost. Perhaps I was asleep. Checking through the past months, I can see that March was my least productive month. I managed to miss eight days but for the life of me I can't remember why.

I am now trying to cover lost ground as the end of the year approaches. I aim to get past 300 posts for the year.

In the year that I began blogging - 2005 - I only published 42 posts. Then the graph started to rise -  110 posts in 2007, 132 in 2009 then up to  214 in 2011. I finally broke the 300 barrier in 2017 with 319 blogposts. My biggest total was just last year with 340 posts published.

Okay. Okay. I can hear you thinking - "This is a dull post! Going on about blogging statistics!" so it's about time to change focus....

Britain is a maritime country with changeable weather conditions throughout the year. Yesterday I reported on the arrival of winter but twenty four hours later, winter is in retreat. The snow and ice are melting as I type and tomorrow is predicted to be a very mild November day in London with the noontime temperature up to 12C.

Why London you ask? Well Shirley and I are heading down there tomorrow. We are going to see a play produced by Ian's girlfriend - Sarah. It's called, "Yes So I Said Yes" by David Ireland and it looks at "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland/ I believe it's going to be pretty gritty. The reviews have been good much to Sarah's relief.

Today I took photos of the weird snowmen outside the house across the road from us. They must  have been made by Sophie and Helen - the two sweet girls who live there. They are both in secondary school now but they still make snowmen - or is the small one a snowcat? I wonder if there will be more snowmen for them to make in the weeks ahead?

  1. You will easily reach your goal.

I thought the small snow sculpture looked a bit like an owl

    1. Could be! Sheffield Wednesday F.C. are known as The Owls.

  2. I realize that some bloggers have goals as to how many posts they make. If I did that , there would be more poor posts than you get now. What I'm trying to say is that I think it's better to consider if you have something important to say rather than build up numbers.

  3. The small one looks very much like a snow cat to me.
We've had a light dusting of snow last night; I expected there to be more over night but when I have just looked out from my kitchen window, it seems that the little that was there has gone already.
Good job your London trip won't be on icy and snow-covered roads! No matter how gritty the play, I am sure it will be great to see Ian and Sarah.

For my blog, I have no particular goal as how frequently I want to post or how many posts I want to chalk up in one year; I often have quite a back log to catch up with after a holiday. Some mornings, I get up extra early for some writing time before work, as I am usually too computer-tired after work.

    1. We may not get to see Ian as he is so busy with "Bosh!" matters.

  4. Definitely looks like a cat or dog to me.

  5. You'll have to go over and ask the girls what that animal was meant to be - just to settle our curiosity!
Have a good time in London, and be careful you don't catch this latest virus.

The rise of your blog posts matches mine.
I didn't know about the severity of your weather until today and all those poor people stuck in a pub in your county. What would Andrew do if stuck in pub for a couple of days? Andrew knows very well what he would do.
Have fun in London. I've heard you can never get bored there.

  7. Some of us are just about as regular as the tides when it comes to posting a daily blog. Not sure we're doing the universe any favors.

  8. For a few years back in the early 2000's, I think I tried to put up a post on a daily basis but I gave that up by the time I got into the 2010's. The first to go were weekends since it wasn't worth battling four others for a single computer. Then went Tuesday's and Thursday's because I just felt like after 20+ years I was grabbing for straws. Occasionally I have enough in my cue to think about upping my posts to more than three a week but seldom does that thought linger.

  9. I do like snowmen. We'll have to make one with Jack this winter. Have a lovely weekend in London.

  10. Enjoy the play and please review it on here. The Owl and the Snowman would be a good title for a children's story.

  11. For some reason the snowcat really meowed to me.

  12. It looks like a snow bear to me. :) We're sitting here sweltering in 63 degrees. Ugh. I've been blogging a lot more during the pandemic; I don't even know what I found to write about in 2020. It was a lot about new dishes I was trying from the baking shows and critiques of my reading material.

  13. This is purely observational, but the times I've noticed you didn't blog were when you were away travelling/vacationing. Try putting that into your analysis and see if it explains the dearth of posts.

I couldn't blog every day. And people are probably happy about that.

  14. You have broken your own record for posts this year because you became a grandfather recently!!

    p.s. an owl it is!

  15. Was it mild here on the 30th? I can't even remember! It's been kind of a see-saw the past week or so. It got below freezing again a couple of nights ago.
