Walk

Shhh! Don't tell anybody but there is more parkland within the boundaries of the city of Sheffield than in any other British city apart from London. This morning I needed to get out. I have been sitting on my ass too long recently so just three miles from our house, I park up by the stables on Shotts Lane - still inside the city limits, near the exclusive and well-heeled suburban village of Dore. I take a five mile autumn walk - as I say, mainly for the exercise - get the old heart pumping - and for once, I remembered to take my digital camera along so that I could share these images of southern Sheffield with Blogworld....

And shhh! Don't tell anyone in Sheffield about the walks round Blacka Moor as so few Sheffielders seem to realise that this lovely haven of nature is just around the corner. This morning the sun had to try hard to break through a thin cloud cover but when it did, another lovely autumn day was revealed... Next year why not try Sheffield for your holidays?

  1. these new smog penetrating cameras take some great photos don't they YP. it was a lovely afternoon here too but I didn't quite manage 5 miles, or even 5 kilometres - five of something though I'm sure, maybe furlongs...

  3. Yeah that walk will look wicked next week when me and all my mountain biking buddies come tearing up the trail.... just gotta wait for a couple of days rain first so we can really carve into it!! I'll bring a few skateboarders and hoodies with me too just to throw a few tags onto the walls and a few beer cans into them there stepping stones!!

I think I managed about seven miles today.... on a twisted achilles tendon too.... my bloody foot feels like it's on fire now!! Stupid fox!!

  5. I know from visiting my daughter what lovely countryside there is around Sheffield.
I'll let you know when Keith and I will be over. I'm vegetarian and Keith eats anything and lots of it. ;)

  11. Having just returned from my holiday in Sheffield complete with the Winter Garden experience (no, really), I am shocked and horrified to find one of the city's own expounding its virtues in blogland, where any fool (or, heaven forbid, southerner) might happen upon its great beauty and relocate, bringing their families and house prices with them. Crickey - I can see I'm going to have to act twice as daft as usual to put them off emigrating to God's own county if you carry on like this!

    Nice pics, btw.
