Girls

Rotherham Child Abuse Scandal - Ring A
Eight of the perpetrators
Yesterday some awful news emerged from Rotherham - a town which is joined at the hip to Sheffield. For faraway visitors to this blog, let me tell you that over a period of fifteen years, over 1400 children from Rotherham suffered sexual abuse. The victims were mostly impressionable young white girls who were first groomed and then assaulted by British Asian men - often gangs of them. Sometimes the girls would be driven to other towns and cities where more abuse took place as Muslim men with Pakistani heritage networked in a heartless and Machiavellian manner to achieve their bestial pleasures with no apparent concern that these girls were other men's daughters.

At the moment, the knives are out for any public servants who failed in their duties - failed to listen, failed to understand, failed to act. There were many signals about what was going on but it seems there was a widespread reluctance to tackle the cancer because this might have inflamed racial sensitivities in the town and nobody wants to appear racist do they?

However, it was not the chief constable, the leader of the council, the social workers, the head of child support services, the doctors, the nurses or the teachers who abused those girls - it was the men - almost all from the Pakistani/Muslim community. They alone were responsible.

In the British Muslim world there often seems to be a medieval attitude towards women. They are treated both like second class citizens and as angelic objects of reverence. This is in sharp contrast to my own view of women who I simply see as people just like me - my equals, human beings together no matter what our gender. But of course I am an atheist. There is no religion to guide my journey through life or my attitude to the world around me. In contrast, those Rotherham men would certainly claim to be guided by Allah as they refer to the Qua-ran in their daily lives. They probably visit their local mosque and they will have mothers and sisters, maybe even wives who they deal with according to their faith.

And to me, it is not only the evil actions of these men that needs close examination but also the religious context of their lives - a context in which women are not treated as equals, We the tolerant "White British" host community are meant to blithely accept this medieval outlook in our midst, to keep quiet, to accept and say dumb things like "Everybody's entitled to their own beliefs", And we keep our mouths shut for fear of being called racist.

But what has happened in Rotherham and is probably still happening there and in Oldham and Bradford and Rochdale and Huddersfield and Manchester has much to do with the Muslim view of women. The perpetrators have emerged from that context and there is a sense in which it is that religious context that is largely to blame. You don't get gangs of atheists befriending vulnerable girls in the streets before abusing them and passing them around like parcels. We should be braver. We should speak out. Tolerance is sometimes simply cowardice in disguise.

  2. Good grief, Mr. Pudding. This post is so unnerving and so grotesque that it is really difficult to respond. Firstly, the Koran would not recognize what these beasts are doing to young girls. This has no part in the Moslem religion. But then, neither does the killing of innocents of any stripe and calling it jihad. The Koran strictly forbids the killing of innocents and defines jihad is an internal struggle within oneself. Moslem men are to respect women, if nothing else.

Where are the parents of these girls? Where are THEIR religious communities? 15 years? Has no politician or minister or preist bothered to look into this problem seriously? They should all be tried as accomplices, if not. This seemed like such a peaceful, although imperfect, community that you visited just last week.

So, just as you and I have discussed in the past, the horror and troubles and conflicts that have been brought about by and continue because of religious belief systems are quite horrible and disgusting and no sane person should believe in any system that allows such atrocious practices.

    1. To answer your question of where are the parents?
Many of these kids were groomed from dysfunctional family units, children homes, and from the street

    2. And, we in the west wonder why the people of Moslem countries look at our teen pregnancy, single parent homes, children afraid to walk to school for fear of being shot, drugs on every street corner, parents throwing children out into the streets.......is it any wonder that they think that WE are the backward and unenlightened and ignorant people of the world.

    3. At least WE don't adhere to a medieval faith based upon a book of dubious origin that is regularly misinterpreted and habitually used as justification for suppressing women.

    4. I assume that that last statement was ironic and not a reference to the bible (because it's not medieval) and British society has definitely not always (many would argue that it still does not) treat women as equals.

    5. I take your point Adrian but I am an atheist like so many of my compatriots these days.

  3. YP, come on. It is not a racial thing. We, or I have been for forty years. Working with people.
They are most likely Catholic scum giving it up them. Fact is that a few Asian perverts got in on the act. No trouble but for the fact the girls were white and in care and already getting shagged by most of the carers regardless of sexual orientation. The Asians just saw a gap in the market and gave the lasses a shilling. Like the corner shop....they put the hours in for the return.
You like our Queen I think her waving hand could be better employed chopping the knackers of all the perves she tolerates. How many perverts has the daft bat Knighted. If I want to have an arise Sir Adrian, Is there like a log for how pervy ones been.
The stupid old twat lets it go on, positively encourages it. She will drop her sword on any pervy twat
What example does that send out to her beloved commonwealth. Not that I see much common in the wealth.

    1. Adrian - of course there are rapists from other ethnic and social groups but in the British Moslem community the issue has become widespread and endemic. 1400 children in one South Yorkshire town is surely statistically significant.
Oh, and God Save the Queen! I am sending your details to the beefeaters in London. No wonder you are on the run in Scotland.

  4. Horrible story and I have to say a very strange reply from Adrian.
I'm sure there are good Muslims and bad Muslims out there but the problem is you never hear the good ones speaking out against the awful stuff the bad ones do or taking any action about it.

    1. You are right Helen. There are so many good and decent Muslim families and it is tragic that because of the sex monsters in their midst, they will also be tarred with the brush of suspicion.

  5. It's a wonderful "religion", isn't it? And like Helsie...I'm gobsmacked and very confused by Adrian's comment....what the.....????

And I agree with Helsie again...Muslims rarely speak out about the despicable behaviour...and it's supposed to be a "religion of peace". What a joke!

Unfortunately, it's not a funny joke. Their disrespect for women is beyond my comprehension. Their disrespect for their fellow humans is beyond my comprehension.

Adrian's comment is beyond my comprehension.

If we don't all wake up to ourselves....it will be too late, if it isn't already. There is the saying about "the horse has already bolted"....let's hope this isn't the case. Decent humans do not behave the way these people do. They are evil...they have no decency. And we can't call them "animals", because animals don't behave the way they do.

And there is nothing racist about my thoughts, my comments.

    1. Lee - You echo my thoughts entirely. As for Adrian, he had probably drunk a litre of Irn Bru before crafting his surprising comment and Irn Bru always goes to head.

    2. Well said Lee. I completely agree.

    3. I think this happens in Scotland as well. My sister once told me that there are Asian guys kerb crawling near schools and children's playgrounds. People do report it but not sure anything is done about it.

Adrian must have been on the Irn Bru from a glass bottle - it is always stronger! The catholic church abuse of children is another horrendous story that has not been dealt with properly either, but is entirely separate from the Asians' abuse of young girls.

This story did upset me when I heard it on the radio yesterday. The young girls who reported the rape and abuse were treated like prostitutes and ignored - some of them were as young as 11 or 12.

    4. Molly...We have heard so much about Catholic priests' abuse of children but not a single word about what happens behind closed doors in mosques.

  6. I am totally with you on this issue, my friend. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Will we be catching the pervs and stoning them to death? I might buy a ticket to England for that festival. I suppose sharia law would demand the girls be stoned and the guys patted on the back. Assholes.

    1. Morality can be so topsy turvy in the Muslim world. Followers often seem to make what they want to make of their holy book. In our local paper tonight strong points are made about taxi hire in Rotherham. Nearly all taxi drivers are Muslim men. Who would let their daughter ride in one of those taxis? And this is terrible for the majority of taxi drivers who are probably decent men just trying to make an honest living.

  7. Fundamentalist Christians in my area also have a medieval mentality towards women and girls. There's a huge Baptist church in our town with a private school that doesn't allow women attending school sports events to wear tank tops or shorts cut above the knee (women who don't even attend church there!) Women who get married at this church aren't allowed to wear strapless wedding gowns, and are required to use the word "obey" in their vows. They are also required to take classes on "women's submission" prior to marrying so they will know their proper role as wives. I wish I were joking. They're only a couple of steps away from being the taliban.

This has been going on for years in otner parts of the country too. It is a minefield and very difficult to expose. Public servants have tried to clear up these problems in more ethnically diverse areas than Rotherham but it is impossible to get convictions when no one talks.

Can't help but feel that Rotherham's exposure is because there is an agenda here. It is a predominantly white population that dislikes its small ethnic Pakistani community anyway and feeds Islamic hatred for the govt so they can continue to bully Muslim nations with negligible public opposition.

Also deflects from the real problem of paedophilia at tne top level of British society.

    1. disv2002 - I am not the one to say you are wrong. Your notions are at the very least interesting but if my daughter had been targeted by Muslim paedophiles in Rotherham I wouldn't have given a damn about the context or what the news was deflecting from.
