I have not eaten corned beef in decades. I have to tell you though, I do very much love a good corned beef hash with potatoes and onions.

ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of corned beef and if I do want some I buy it presliced off a larger piece in the deli section at the supermarket and it is always nice. I remember the canned stuff from childhood, ham too from a can with a key to wind it open, but don't remember the brands. Probably they are still available, but I never seek them out. I remember the ham had jelly while the corned beef had the fat like the one in the video and my dad would carefully remove that and sling it in the frying pan to cook his eggs.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder about the "awful/nasty" tasting one with that greenish tinge at one end, if maybe it went "off" being kept in a cupboard with the heatwave, and possibly stored wrongly before it ever got to the store. I know I wouldn't buy it again no matter what the reason was.
