Benazir

Benazir Bhutto - born June 1953, killed December 2007. May she rest in peace. Her bravery in the face of bigotry, lies, blind fundamentalism and terror should be a lesson to us all. She had already given so much to Pakistan and didn't have to return. Carping cynics might think of her as a puppet of the U.S. world empire but I see her as a symbol of hope and goodness. If only her legacy could be peace and democracy but I rather think that her passing will be followed by rivers of blood and oceans of tears.
A vision of Pakistan's future?

I am greatly saddened by her passing. I was afraid of such a thing when I saw that she had gone back.
She was very intelligent and I liked her.

  3. That was my deleted comment. It just seemed so hollow and inane that I deleted it. It's just all so frustrating and disheartening. Thanks for your post. May people be inspired by Bhutto and others to work toward true peace.

  4. So the fact that her government was so corrupt means nothing? And that her so-called democratic party is nothing more than a family dynasty means nothing? Okay, anyone's death is bad, but, come on, she was a corrupt fucker!! Read behind the headlines, maaaaaannnnnn!

  5. And a Happy New Year to you too Mr Reidski! Where is the evidence of her corruption? At least she was offering an alternative to Islamic fundamentalism.

  6. At least she was brave and stood up for what she believed.
Her government was corrupt? The present government isn't you think? Repression, funding terrorism. Not funding perhaps but encouraging it by omission.
We should ask ourselves why there is this unrest in Pakistan? And why was she killed? A mere cold blooded terrorist act?
