Good heavens! The things you can find in the bowels of the internet! There is no respect for politicians, royalty or famous celebrities. Everybody it seems is fair game. What happened to decorum, to deference and respect?

As you will surely be aware, the leader of our sceptred isle is now Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson. A New Yorker by birth - just like President Trump, this gifted Churchillian figure is a true man of the people, ready to lead our embattled kingdom to a better future after his sweeping general election victory. There will be dancing on the village green and bees will hum once more.

And yet, and yet...this is how he has been portrayed:-
I share the disturbing image with you simply to illustrate what the internet is capable of coughing up. Bacon sandwiches will never be the same again.

  1. That photo reminds me of the cartoons drawn of political figures in the 18th century

  2. What fascinates me, not that I dwell on it much and, anyway, I am not in the meat market, how Johnson is enough of a magnet to have fathered children he doesn't know he has. I know women don't take much notice of what a guy looks like as long as he appeals to some cave instinct bred in their bone. But still.

Which reminds me, apropos of nothing, of my father. He is, facially, a very good looking guy - to this day. Square of jaw, think Richard Burton and Marlon Brando in their heydays, and all that. However, and remember I am his daughter, I did recoil once upon a time when he hugged me and I felt that lump of his tummy between us. I can't blame that I haven't seen my parents for the last ten years on that fact alone … anyway, back to the hapless Boris (I don't know how his sister Rachel copes), just as an experiment I'd love to spend an hour or so in his company to get to the "bottom" (perish the thought) of him. Not that that would make him less of a manipulative liar without a principle to put his foot on …

    Pigged out,
    U

    1. If you spent an hour in his company, he'd no doubt be getting to the bottom of you Ursula - chasing you around the billiards table yelling "Tally ho!"

Now I may just borrow this image and switch the head for an American theme.

  7. It is remarkable what photo-editing software (and a little imagination) will do! The question is, do we benefit from that person's cleverness? Probably not. I may just have nightmares.

    1. Better to have a nightmare than barbecued Johnson.

  8. And yet, where is decorum in the re-posting of the image? The person/s who originally created this meme, or whatever it is called, perhaps, should also take a look in their own mirrors. They may receive a surprise when they discover they are no works of art themselves.

I'm glad The Conservatives won...by a landslide. Democracy at its best.

    1. I am sorry you think that way Lee. I have lived British politics all my adult life - following the ebb and flow of it all, sensitive to the fine details, the words spoken, the promises broken. I would never presume to pass judgement on the Australian political scene because I confess that I do not know enough about it, I have not lived it. Over here, the process of our recent election was not as straightforward as it might appear to foreigners like yourself. There is a complicated back story. Johnson's election is certainly not good for the homeless, nor for the thousands of children who live in poverty in this very wealthy country.

    2. I'm not the one passing judgment, Yorkie. I didn't create or post that image.

I prefer not to discuss politics in the blogging world, and you may have noticed in the past I have not commented on political posts whether written by you, or anyone else. I follow politics closely, and not only the politics of my own country, Australia.

As I've said previously...I am...have always been, and will always be a conservative voter. I could go into more detail, but I won't. I refrain/refuse to get into a war of words. I have never been a Leftie, and I shall never be. It is my right to believe how I do...as it is yours to believe how you do.

No need to be sorry for the way I think, Mr. Pud. I'm not sorry for the way I think...nor for the way you think. I am entitled to my beliefs and opinions, as are you to your own. :)

    3. The term "Conservative" has a different meaning here in Great Britain than it has in Australia. Regarding the photo-shopped satirical image of Johnson, it surely captures the true essence of his character.

    4. Well...to put it into terms you may understand...coming from someone so dumb as I am...as uneducated as I am, being a mere dimwitted Aussie I am a Liberal right-wing voter. I have always been, and will always vote for the Liberal Party of Australia, and its coalition partner, the National Party, which historically was the party of the conservative small farmers and espoused agrarianism - aka the Country Party. I've never been a Leftie/Socialist.

Back in the 70s I was a branch member of the Liberal Party, and I was secretary to the chairman of that branch...who a few years later became Queensland Attorney-General within the Liberal Party (Centre right wing party...conservative party). I was also a delegate at the Liberal Party annual conference held in Brisbane in 1974.

I wonder if the creator of the photo-shopped image did one of himself it would capture the true essence of his character...being the only one who really knows his own true character....

      But, again...what would I know...I'm just a dumb Aussie...like "Fawlty Tower;s" Manuel...."I know nothing!" I need to be a Leftie...and then I would know everything!!

    5. The final comment I have to make on the subject is...if one is to vote upon the appearance and physique of a political candidate...in a perfect world I'd probably vote for Idris Elba, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, Timothy Olyphant, Liev Schreiber - Gregory Peck and Sidney Poitier if they were still alive...

If only we all were picture-perfect human specimens...but, unfortunately, we aren't. I sure as hell am not. We're just fortunate we're not in the public eye...
