Stanton-in-the-Peak
And so then my South East Asian sojourn was over and I was back in England. It was still 2013 and there were plenty of days for long walks in good weather. It was the year that I reached the age of sixty. The six images I have selected to accompany this blogpost were all taken in the second half of 2013.South Anston

Monsal Dale
The church arch really makes the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe sheep seems to be in a dangerous place.
Good way to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteThe blue of the delphiniums stand out and also Munsal Dale with its houses, almost a paradise lost in the wooded sides.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, all of them. The one of Monsal Dale speaks the most to me. I want to go there right away.
ReplyDeleteThe blue flowers in the foreground of the first pictures are wonderful.
Have you re-visited all or some of these places during the past ten years?
Is that the Old Station bookshop ( Barters) in Alnwick? We were staying in the area a few years ago and visited it. Couldn't get P away! ( we used to live in Morpeth in the 70s)
ReplyDeleteFlowers in the foreground make a lovely picture. The moody skies above the pub make a lovely contrast to the white building. You find all the right places. My problem is to crop or not to crop.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as always. I particularly like the long shot of Monsal Dale, it looks so peaceful in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteYou have to be fit to live in Marsden, Slaithwaite or Linthwaite.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Delphiniums! Moody skies over the traveller's inn, they look ready to let go and bucket down on the unwary.
ReplyDeleteBaaa!
ReplyDeleteWas it hard for you to realize that yes, you were now sixty? It was for me.
ReplyDeleteI love those blue flowers, Neil. The sheep photo makes me dizzy!
ReplyDeletemy great grandfather immigrated from Alnwick, Northumberland, Englad to Alnwick, Northumberland, CANADA. They don't have the old buildings, but the land land scenery ooks much the same.
ReplyDeleteThat sheep must be standing on a VERY steep slope!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Marsden!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful days with the bluest of skies. In England! Who'da ever thunk it? BTW, that Marsen sheep is getting very close to the edge of what looks like a precipice. I hope you didn't shout at him.
ReplyDeleteLove the Marsden picture! Monsal Dale is beautiful. Lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteDelphiniums! I love them. The sky looks stormy over The Traveller's Inn.
