On Fridays, our Frances does not go to work and her youngest daughter, Margot, does not go to nursery school. Consequently, they get to spend some precious one-to-one time together.

Usually, they attend a playgroup  in a local church hall and for months Margot has always enjoyed this. However, two days ago she announced that she did not wish to go to playgroup. Instead she wanted to visit a cafe to eat "sausage". By the way, eating is probably her number one pastime.

And there the wee cherub is in the cafe. I just had to share that picture with you. She is eating her grub and drinking her "Fruit Shoot" so of course she is happy. If you will excuse the expression, the sausage has already gone down the hatch.

Isn't she a doll - or is that just grandfather bias once again?

Of less importance is the blatant advertisement below. It is for a  new publication that will be coming your way in two parts with the first installment as soon as tomorrow. I bet you cannot wait.
Who is Alvin and
who or what is
the target of his revenge?
"I couldn't put it down" - Nurse Pixie in  "The Edmonton Journal"
"Justice prevails. A rollicking good read. Vengeance can be bitter
and yet so sweet." - Andrew de Melbourne in "The Age"
"Zzzzzzzzz!" Bob Slatten in "Bed"
Don't let the comedy cover vibe mislead you!
"Somebody had to do it and I felt that the invisible finger
of destiny was pointing my way. I owed it to the world
and there was no turning back now..."

  1. Both - of course you are biased, but she is a doll! I am retired and much more aware and appreciative of my toddler grandchildren than I was with my own children. Was so busy back then, working and coping with life.

Is Alvin The Avenger a sausage lover like Margot ?

    1. Alvin the Avenger is a man with a mission. Like Attila the Hun, he has no time for sausages.

  3. Full up to dolly's wax! (which to my surprise I now discover is an Australianism).

I'm still chuckling at the (to me faintly comic) shot of Phoebe not feeling very well from your 11/1 update.

    1. Maybe she should star in her own TV show. I'll make a fortune.

  6. Oh dear, I'm not entirely sure what Alvin is supposed to be. My imagination is working overtime though. However, I trust Nurse Pixie's judgment.

    1. A.I.turned Alvin into a living Yorkshire pudding but that's not how I really look! Honest!

    2. Oh, I see now. But if Alvin is a Yorkshire Pudding, why is his gravy . . . white? Do I really want to know?

    3. No. You do not want to know that Debra.

  7. That is one very happy Margot.
I would never criticise so bluntly. The book cover was a reasonable effort.

As for the other thing...that's truly weird.

  9. Margot‘s radiating happiness is wonderful to behold. Every child deserves to be so happy, but unfortunately, way too many never get the chance to even know what it‘s like not to be hungry all the time.
Margot‘s zip-up with the fox print is great! Is it availablr in my size, do you think?
Alvin The Avenger? I am looking forward to tomorrow!

  13. She is a doll. You are so blessed to have this "ordinary" time w/your grandkids. My own children live far, far away. I doubt, when the day comes that they have their own kids, I will get to see them very much. You are lucky but they are so very lucky also, to have you and your wife in their lives.

For me, it would always be the sausages!

  18. I'm intrigued by the "wet loor flood" and the "wet floor floor." With a fish and a surfer, perhaps?

I'm glad Frances enjoyed her brekkie. Going to a cafe with mom sounds like a much better experience than any old nursery school or playgroup.

  19. It's not grandfather bias. All three of your grandchildren are precious looking and I wouldn't say so if I didn't truly think it. All puppies and kittens are cute, but not all children.
I'm a little disappointed I didn't get an "Advanced Review Copy" of your book. Guess I'll just have to read it with the masses.
