France

It is just after midnight. In a few hours I expect I will  be flying to Carcassonne in southern France. However, snow is on the weather menu  here and it's also on the menu in the foothills of The Pyrenees. It will be a relief just to get there.

The cats will be waiting for me. French cats. They are not quite the same as English cats. English cats are generally chummy and easy-going but French cats are highly strung and temperamental. I wonder if I will have speak to them in French? "Venez ici mon petit chat! C'est le temps de votre dejeuner!"

I am not sure how I will fill my time but the days will surely pass and what is more I hope to blog from my brother's remote farmhouse. I am taking a copy of "Sons and Lovers" by D.H.Lawrence. I can't even remember if I read it in my youth but that hardly matters.

Au revoir mes amis!

  1. How exciting for you! I am hoping you will have a safe flight with no weather problems. I'm sure it will be good to see your brother even if he will be leaving shortly after your arrival. I do hope he can first introduce you to the cats. I am a big lover of cats and have two of my own. I hope you know that cats are generally accustomed to being in charge and will no doubt expect you to follow their routines. I'm sure this will be a fun trip and maybe you will end up being a cat lover! Looking forward to hearing about France! Safe travels!

If not, you MUST as it will educate you about French cats. There are more in the series, but that is a beginning.
Oh, please have a wonderful time and please share your adventures with us.

  6. Here's wishing you a safe flight and good drive out to the remote farmhouse! I am sure you and the cats will get along fine. They will probably just see you as a different tin-opener from their usual servants.

  12. I hope you don't suddenly remember "Sons and Lovers" halfway through! Perhaps les petits chats will turn out to be atypical and of Spanish origin.

    1. I read the first three chapters and enjoyed them. The book was written in 1913 - just before innocence was slaughtered on the fields of Flanders.

  14. A brilliant book. I've read it a couple of times over the years...and I also saw the movie a couple of times.

    I'm a big fan of D. H. Lawrence's writings.

    Enjoy your stay. Keep warm.

    1. You've got two "furry chums" Lee? I have got nine and three or four others come over from a nearby farm. I wonder what D.H.L would have had to say about that.
