Million

As some visitors will recall, my internet life isn't all about this Yorkshire Pudding blog. As well as male modelling, I also submit photographs to a couple of geographical sites - including Panoramio - hosted by Google. Most of these photos can be accessed via Google Earth and Google Maps. Panoramio provides comprehensive statistics. I know how many people have looked at each of my pictures and the overall tally of "views". That's the main reason for this boastful post. I can announce exclusively to you - dear reader - that my Panoramio photos have now attracted over one million views! It has taken a while to get there but at last I am in the one million club and as it happens this is my most viewed picture:-
It was taken in 2009 when I visited Easter Island. It shows Pu o Hiro - The Trumpet Stone. This picture alone has received 18,858 views. Everybody is aware of the stone statues or "moai" on Easter Island but there are many other archaeological remains there - including this stone which has holes near the top and allegedly was blown like a trumpet to summon islanders to meetings.

  1. A million views, that is very impressive.
Here's to the next million. I'll have a drink to it later.

  3. Congratulations! How does your wife feel now, married to a millionaire?
The trumpet stone sounds like a good idea. An instrument not easily lost or nicked. What unnerves me a bit is the dead tree stump with the chains. I do not like to think about who or what could be hung from it.

    1. Those chains would be good for hanging an athletic Aldi-loving former librarian by her ankles! But seriously - I firmly suspect that a wooden name board once hung there. They sometimes get very strong winds on Easter Island - sweeping unrestrained across the Pacific.

  4. Well done. Thanks to you Tony was putting some of his photos up on Panoramio but he became a bit fed up with all the brightly coloured, photo-shopped photos he found there.

    1. To tell you the truth Helen - I think my photos are more typical. None have been photo-shopped but I recognise that a few contributors have messed around too much with their pictures or used high-dynamic-range imaging (HDR).

  5. Well, Mr. Pudding, I have spent too much time this morning viewing the photos of Neil in Sheffield UK. Lovely, lovely. You can tell a lot about a person from what they find interesting enough to capture and hold through photos. I especially enjoyed the ones taken before I "knew" you. Some of my favorites are Balckden Brook, Paraglider at Sundown, Madalena Chapel, Mogetes en Valle deVinales, Solitary daffodil, View from Summit Road, Poppies and rapeseed, The Holocaust Memorial, The Huskar Monument, Cheeky Girl at Market, Wind Power Old and New, Blue Fishing Boats........there are too many favorites to mention them all. And, you know I will be looking up some of those places! Congratulations to you on this milestone.

    1. I'm delighted that you have had a good look round my album MT, You are right to suggest that a lot can be revealed about the outlook and personality of a photographer by thumbing through his/her output.

    1. Little people? How tall are you Jan? I'm sorry but I never realised you were a midget. Do you have wooden blocks on your car pedals?
