Brush

Q. By  a  C grade high school student?
A new artist is born! It's not George W. Bush former leader of the free world any more - it's George W. Brush budding artist. He claims that he practises every day and has employed an art tutor to improve his skills. Today, George W. Brush launches his first exhibition. He claims to be inspired by his great hero - Winston Churchill who also dabbled in painting. Furthermore, Brush claims that his intimate relationship with a wide spectrum of world leaders guides his "artistry". He was uniquely placed to read the characters of these important  people.

I don't mean to be peevish but it seems to me that Brush is as good at art as he was at leading America. Who can forget the 2001 image of Brush in a school room when an aide whispered in his ear that there had been a terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre. He looked lost, out of his depth, hopeless. And it is the same with his artwork as the accompanying images testify. We can admire his interest in art and his perseverance but the results would have been better - secreted like mythical weapons of mass destruction in his sprawling Texas ranch.

  2. Too bad he didn't take up art, instead of drinking and partying, in his earlier years at school. Perhaps he'd be better at art in his retirement, and we would have been spared his years as president. I have no patience with those who "hate" Obama, but have to admit that while Bush was president I could not tolerate him. If he hadn't been president, he would have been hilariously, stupidly funny. But when someone like that holds a great deal of power, you can never take them lightly.

    1. He may have held a great deal of power Jan but he can't hold a paintbrush.

  4. I think you are being overly critical. He is a much better painter than a human being and his art is far superior to any of his political accomplishments.

    1. I take your point Adrian but I still think that Angela Merkel should sue him for defamation.

    2. I didn't recognise Angela Merkal. I thought it was that lass the does the weather guessing on Breakfast time.
He is perhaps using the pointy bit of the brush and thinks the bristles are there to provide comfort and grip. The arrogance and incompetence of the cretin knows no bounds.

  5. There's as much depth to those portraits as there is to his character.

  6. It's that Italian woman who restored the face of Jesus in a church, isn't it?

  7. In relation to Robert's comment "Put up or shut up" (which I take to mean he supports GWB) perhaps I could tell you a story.

When in my early 20s I was sitting waiting for my dinner date and doing a crossword in the bar area of Chester's Grosvenor Hotel. The Head Waiter noticed my lack of progress (It was The Times Crossword after all) and I was stupid enough to say "Do you think you could do any better?" to which he replied "Certainly not, Sir, but then I have never pretended to have any skills in that department."

  8. Dear lord, they are awful. Really awful, not as incredibly appalling as his actions and dimwit of a brain, but still awful.
Tom has me laughing alot at his comment too "It's that Italian woman who restored the face of Jesus in a church, isn't it?". Well said.

  9. Condoleeza Rice used to be congratulated on her cleverness, but she once described George W as 'someone of tremendous intellect' so the bar wasn't set terrifically high.

Having said that I did recognise Blair, Putin and Merkel from his daubings!
