Questions

Why has Trump declared that he expects to be arrested next week with regard to the Stormy Daniels scandal and the hush money he paid her before the Presidential election of 2016? Surely, most people who expect to be arrested by the police keep such information as secret as possible. The vast majority are remorseful but not Trump. Perhaps he's trying to wind up his base supporters and get them out on the streets just as he did in early January 2021.

Has Mr B.Johnson got no shame? First he successfully  makes his younger brother Jo Johnson a member of The House of Lords and then he nominates his father Stanley Johnson for a knighthood. Neither of these close family members have done anything to deserve such honours but it seems that Mr B. Johnson does not care a fig about such minor details. This blatant favouritism and misuse of the honours system is an utter disgrace but I guess not at all unexpected given Mr B.Johnson's track record.

Why is China's President Xi Jinping visiting Vladimir Putin next week? Doesn't he realise that a warrant is out for Putin's arrest - for countless crimes against humanity? Xi Jinping ought to appreciate that having a powwow with a tyrannical  criminal who kidnaps children and encourages the brutalisation  and killing of Ukrainian citizens is definitely not a way to improve your reputation in the eyes of the wider world.

  1. I put a link on my blog post this evening from an op-ed in the New Yorker about Trump. I would copy it here but it's about eight lines long. There are some thoughts there that are well-thought out.
As to Boris- I have no idea.
And the news about Xi Jinping visiting Putin only makes me rather terrified.

  2. We've been made to think that these people are better that the rest. What people have to realize that many f the public figures are absolute fools.

  3. I would have thought that someone would have to veto any recommendation for honours. Obviously not. Makes a mockery of what used to be a quite respected institution (rightly or wrongly).
Donald Trumpkin is loved by the media because he is barking mad. If they ignored him, he might go away.
As for the Chinese/Russian situation - we can only keep our fingers crossed. It is scary but we have been here before.

    1. When a Prime Minister resigns or is booted out, he or she has the right to nominate as many people as he or she wants for honours. They won't all get through the net but the majority will.

  4. Thing 45 is using this story to raise money for his future failed campaign.

    1. I am not sure how this declaration will attract money for his doomed campaign.

  5. It may be that Trump is just winding up his followers, but I hope he really does get arrested very soon, tomorrow sounds good. As for Putin, he can get arrested if he steps into some territory or ground or whatever, but since he rarely leaves wherever he is currently staying, that arrest might not happen anytime soon. Bummer on both counts.

  6. Sorting out the villains will not bring justice, though the Johnsons and Trumps are the laughing stock of this world. Johnson's blatantly nominating members of his family of course brings down the rest of the House of Lords - they will get their revenge hopefully.

    1. I plan to nominate Johnson for a special award - an N.O.T.C. (Nobhead of The Century).

  7. I expect He Who Must Not Be Named, is just trying to raise money from his followers, but I really hope his prediction is right this time. High profile individuals, are sometimes told ahead of time that they need to be prepared to be arrested. As reflected by other public figures, they sometimes start to think that the world will follow, that they are somehow exempt from people questioning their actions. Sometimes that is who gets elected, or who steals the election - don't get me started on the elections in some countries.

    1. Sorry for spoiling your happy mood Travel. I sense you were getting a little riled at the end. May we deduce that you are not a Trump fan?

    2. I won't even say that name. Do China and Russia really have fair elections?

  8. Of course the Orange Blob is hoping to rouse his followers. There's nothing he'd like better than another mob chanting his name. Remember his inauguration, when he insisted that the crowd was greater than it actually was?

  9. Macron isn't very popular with his rising of the pension age either. In France they riot and in England they just accept it.

  10. Trump is trying to drum up support, both financial and from demonstrators. It sounds like an arrest might not happen Tuesday, though, so I'm not sure where he got that date.

No, Johnson has no shame. And China doesn't give a fig about human rights.

  11. Short answer: I will bet money that tRUMP will NOT be arrested on Tuesday (although it is a bet I'd love to lose). He's trying to raise his base. Just as he did in the weeks leading up to January 6th. Nepotism is rampant here as well. Putin doesn't care. China is no friend of ours. America would do well to recognize that fact and begin to restore our own manufacturing base.

  12. I think you are spot on about Trump. I would bet money like Debby that he won't be arrested though.

To understand Xi Jinping, all one has to do is rotate a map of the China see so China is on the the bottom and Taiwan is on the top. To the left will be America's ally Japan, to the right will be America's ally the Philippines and directly ahead is of course, America's ally Taiwan. Xi Jinping just wants to stick his thumb in America's eye and I'm not sure I blame him all that much. But to do so at the expense of the cruelty Russia has dealt out really says something about what he values in life.
