No proper blogpost today. Shirley and I travelled down to London on Saturday morning by train. We came down to the capital for a special reason - to support our son Ian who will be tackling The London Marathon on Sunday morning. He hopes to run the course in around four hours, raising money for The Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. Last year The London Marathon attracted 54,000 runners! Spotting him will probably be like finding a needle in a haystack!
The afternoon is expected to be pretty warm - the warmest day of the year so far. Not what marathon runners generally want.
Home on Monday when I will write a proper blogpost. But not too "proper"!
Good luck to Ian!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite emotional for us Dads when they cross the finish line, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Ian tomorrow morning!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the City.
ReplyDeleteOf course you will usually not see all 54,000 runners at the same time, but always just the ones running past you standing by the roadside, and I bet you WILL spot Ian. I would be more worried about the crowds of spectators, but I imagine a lot of security measures will be in place.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for Ian's run, as well as your train trip!
Running on the warmest day of the year there is better than running on the warmest day here. I hope he drinks water along the way, it's important to keep hydrated.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Ian. Hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Ian.
ReplyDeleteOh, Lord, have fun with that. I will be keeping clear of those crowds!
ReplyDeleteGood for Ian! And yes- how will you find him?
ReplyDeleteHope the marathon went well for Ian. That's a nice achievement!
ReplyDeleteFifty-four thousand other runners, plus spectators sounds awful. I'm not a fan of crowds. I hope Ian did well.
ReplyDeletehope you enjoy the marathon and your lad doesn't hate it too much!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend's daughter ran in the London Marathon, too. I admire anyone who does an event like this. So much time and training involved and 26.2 miles is a long distance. Congratulations to your son. Did you catch a glimpse of him?
ReplyDeleteIt must be thrilling to run in such a major event. Good on Ian for running for such a worthy cause!
