Hiatus

As 2026 creeps ever closer so does The Laughing Horse Awards Night (XVIII). The design for this year's prized widget can now be revealed following heated debate at the highest level in Pudding Tower with input from the sponsors. Here it is...
I feel sure you will agree that this is a stunning, original design that takes widget art to a whole new level.

As in most previous years, the 2025 Laughing Horse Awards Ceremony will be held at a secret venue on the last day of the year. For the first time ever, key arrangements are being made using artificial intelligence (aka AI) so there should be no logistical problems whatsoever.

In other news, I have decided to remove the front of our house in order to build a golden ballroom in the garden. Previous occupants of this house always wanted a ballroom and now it's going to happen. I won't tell our neighbours or Sheffield City Council in case they try to prevent the project from even getting off the ground.

To tell you the truth, it is going to be the best ballroom the world has ever seen and the interior will be encrusted with sophisticated golden ornamentation - the likes of which the world has never seen. Yes it is going to be the most beautiful, fantastic  building - like a great palace really - and it won't cost other bloggers a penny as I will be paying for it all with my own money.

Maybe it will be ready for use as The Laughing Horse Awards venue for 2026. One thing's for sure - it will be visible from outer space - its crystal chandeliers sparkling like starlight in the inky darkness.

In further, unconnected news, today I undertook a long circular and cameraless walk from home. It was split in half by a hot chocolate stop at Forge Dam Cafe where I sat for half an hour by the duck pond reading an autobiography I have just begun.

It was exactly forty five minutes to the cafe via The Porter Valley and then forty five minutes back home via Ivy Cottage  Lane and Bents Green. On neither of these two legs did I pause for even a moment in spite of the gradients. Just kept right on walking in the chilly post-Christmas hiatus.

  1. Sounds like a good outing after the strain involved in designing that ballroom.

    1. No strain at all. I just got a sharpie, drew it and handed the picture to my architect. Maybe he is the best architect in the world. Yeah Joe Ripemoff - he has worked for me on many big, beautiful projects.

  2. You don't have Trump Envy, do you? If so, get a doctor to look at it and prescribe anti-psychotic medication.

  4. The excitement levels rise as we wonder 'will it be me' and then changing to 'it should have been me'.
The 2019 cafe photo shows it's very busy.

    1. It is a popular cafe for Sheffielders to walk to - along the valley, under the trees.

  6. Can hardly wait for the awards (o yes I can;) Are you modelling your ballroom on Versailles than you can say that France belongs to you, or will it be Northern chic?

  7. That will be One Big Beautiful Ballroom! I can't wait to see it in all its glory, hoping you'll show us pictures and report about the progress.

It is good to be out walking even when it's really cold, as long as one is dressed accordingly and does not stop out in the cold for too long. O.K. and I have been out for short-ish walks of an hour or an hour and a half, to catch some of the beautiful sunny blue skies we've been having for the past few days, but the cold biting our noses made us turn back to the cottage before long.

    1. Nope but you and Carlos would be well advised to purchase some bit coins from me. Their value will increase by 200 maybe 300% in a few months. You would be stupid not to.

  10. Don't forget to tear down the front of the house, before anyone has a chance to stop you.

  11. You must be exhausted after all that bullshit:) I'm not surprised the orange one falls asleep so often in meetings, he too must be exhausted from all of his bullshit.
That cafe looks lovely and glad you had a good walk. It's finally going to warm up enough that I can walk without fear of frostbite and I'm looking forward to a good long walk as well.

  14. I'm sure the awards night will be the best ever, in the best venue, the golden ballroom is like nothing I've ever seen and that might be because its not finished but it's also known as the most stylish, most luxurious and most special. All my aids said so
