Enough

Yes. I am sorry to say that that is not a fake image. 5,500 children have been killed in Gaza  and it is believed that a further 1,800 lie under the rubble presumed dead. As one regular visitor to this blog wrote:

"I know Israel felt justifiably wronged by the HAMAS attack on 7 October, but two wrongs don't make a right and what Israel are doing to innocent people in Gaza is beyond belief."

Enough is enough. Killing only begets more  killing and besides: Is it even possible to destroy HAMAS? How many more children must die? None of them were HAMAS terrorists. They were children with their whole lives ahead of them.

  1. For me it comes down to one question: to what extent is it acceptable to kill and injure civilians to achieve military goals?

    1. "Collateral damage" is often inevitable but the question is: How much? In my opinion the volume of death in Gaza is far too much.

  2. I want the terrorists taken out but when innocent people and CHILDREN are dying because of that effort, the time has come to rethink strategy.

  3. There is no fucking reason to ever kill a child, not for religion, not for revenge, not for ideology.

    1. Save The Children... but the scales seem to be suggesting that one Israeli life is worth the lives of ten or more Palestinians.

"Our first and most pressing problem is how to do away with warfare as a method of solving conflicts."

  5. War doesn't make sense , particularly this war. This has occurred over many years. They fight , make peace and get ready for the next war. They have a continuous excuse to fight another war.

  6. And Israel shows no sign of cease fire. In the past the world seemed to support Israel in most things they did (guilt for not doing more duing WW2 perhaps?) but the tide seems to be turning and these images are heartbreaking and do nothing to help their propoganda. I wonder if the Israeli government realises (or cares).

    1. Thankfully, there are many Israelis who do not agree with the brutal strategy their government have put into practice.

  7. I am hoping the Hamas as a collective suffer fatal heart attacks all at once with no help available for a single one of them.

    1. What about Netanyahu? Some say that his inaction and right wing outlook paved the way to October 7th.

  9. I went to a high school which had 1000 students and that is how I still reference numbers of people. 7500 children is a LOT. And they are so completely innocent

  10. It is such a telling photo, the heart cries for the child. As it did for the Israeli people so brutally murdered by Hamas. Both sides have equal rights to being angry but killing is not acceptable. I saw this morning, a comment, 'Palestine is not named in the Bible but Jews are.' Fuckin bible and all the religious tosh that is in it!

    1. comments like that are really nothing to do with the bible. Lets put the blame for that where it belongs: with the person who said it. And Palestine is mentioned in the bible so that just proves that they didn't know what they were talking about

  11. So wrong, but then so was Hamas attacking and then abducting innocents in Israel. There is no right in this war and so many wrongs.

    1. What about scale? So far it is ten Palestinian deaths for one Israeli - hardly an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth.

  18. Unless/until the US stops underwriting Israel's use of overwhelming military force, even if the present episode reverts to the preceding "status quo" (not a static situation: an ongoing immiseration and blockade in Gaza and creeping settlerism in the West Bank and Jerusalem) similar events will recur as "the lawn" will regularly need to be "mown."

  19. Neither side seems to have thought things through very carefully. Israel may be wiping out Hamas but I'm guessing they are creating 10 future terrorists for every one they kill now. It is a classic no win situation.

    1. Just as western allies led by America could not find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq so the obliteration of HAMAS will be just as elusive.

  20. As you probably recall YP, I have Jewish ancestry and will be the first to defend them in an argument, so in no way can I be called antisemitic, but I cannot see that what is Israel is doing in retaliation to what was, yes, a horrible act by HAMAS, is acceptable. Killing equally innocent people and children in Gaza does not make it right. It is a horrible situation all round that has been grumbling since 1947 and not easy to solve, but killing is not the answer. I am not sure what is the answer, but somebody needs to step in before there is too much more bloodshed on either side.
