I have noticed that a few of my favourite bloggers have been taking a rest from blogging. Maybe I should do the same.
I have got some things on my mind tonight. Something unpleasant happened today and it has got under my skin. I need a little time to process it and think about how to respond, hoping that the unpleasantness goes no further. I may tell you about it soon.
In other Yorkshire Pudding news, Shirley and I are heading to Amsterdam on Friday morning - thence to a town north of Amsterdam called Hoorn. We will be flying from Humberside Airport - the flight is only an hour long - across The North Sea.
I confess I am a bit anxious about driving a hire car out of busy Schipol Airport but no doubt I will manage it.
We are only staying for two nights. Back on Monday evening. I may tell you the reason for this little expedition tomorrow.
Now back to my glass of red wine and more pondering about what happened.
An hour's flight over the German Ocean (as the North Sea was called) will
ReplyDeletecalm you down, Neil. Time out in Amsterdam & Hoorn with Shirley is a tonic.
You will learn to process the bad experience.
Mark Twain said nobody is sane at 3 a.m. The long dark night of the soul,
as Scott Fitzgerald described it in his prophetic essay, The Crack-Up.
I only feel depressed if I don't get enough sleep. I wish I had known
about brain chemistry when I was young, not that I did anything crazy.
Cliffe & Woodland Towers. My cousin Jim who's over 90 said there are
no bad places, only bad people. Damaged people.
Jim did his National Service like his brother Alec. Successful businessmen.
Well, that's a cliffhanger, and I know very well why people visit Amsterdam for a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteDo tell. Please.
DeleteWell now I am more curious than a cat!
ReplyDeleteBloggers come and go, some are more reliable than others and kindly let their readers know when they intend to take a break or are away for a while with no access to blogging, while others simply seem to drop off the planet, leaving their blogging friends worried. But of course every blogger decides for him or herself, and if you feel the need for a break, then you do just that. And now that you have written about this possibility, at least I won't worry, even though I hope whatever unpleasantness happened to you can be resolved and will not keep you away from blogland for long.
ReplyDeleteHave a good flight, and then a smooth drive from the airport to your destination!
Sorry to hear you have something worrying you. Hope it resolves soon. I had something similar a few weeks ago when I had an argument with a neighbour next-door-but-one. In the grand scheme of things it would sound petty to describe it, but it worried me greatly and, as you say, really got under my skin.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Amsterdam the two of you and don't let the thing that is worrying, worry you. It will fly by. When blogging becomes tiresome a rest is called for, also of course because sometimes we have little to say. But you always find a subject to write about.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip to Amsterdam. My son lives there and he loves it. I would worry about the car rental too, but that's me. Take care.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels, and good luck driving on the correct side of the road. Hurry back and please tell us what is bothering you.
ReplyDeleteHave a good ponder and a good trip!
ReplyDeleteThis blogger is getting old and running out of things to say. Have a good trip.
ReplyDeleteOh my. Well, I hope it was nothing serious, whatever it was. I don't begrudge anyone a blog break -- sometimes we just need to recharge our batteries. Take the time off in Amsterdam and enjoy your trip!
ReplyDeleteHope your worries go away, Neil. The trip to Amsterdam with Shirley will help lift your spirits. Wishing you safe travels!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I looked it up and the pink shoes are not because of Pride but because the manufacturers are featuring brighter colors this year. World Cup is a way to showcase and advertise their boots. :)
Enjoy your break away, and I hope it goes a good way to dispelling the unpleasantness.
ReplyDeleteI wish you an enjoyable trip - and that you'll be able to put other worries aside at least while away! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the comments but hope you have/had a wonderful trip.
