Boosting

Here on the inscrutable internet, as well as churning out blogposts, I sometimes post reviews on TripAdvisor. To date, I have posted almost 700 items there - mostly reviews of hotels and eating establishments but also photographs.

It is easy to leave a review on a previously listed business but sometimes the establishment you wish to review may not be up so then you have the hassle of getting a new listing approved. That is what happened with "Urban Burger" on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield.

I had been in there four times in the last six months and each time the freshly made burger with fries has been truly scrumptious. Sadly, the place never seems busy and I wanted to give this homegrown Yorkshire business a boost with a glowing review  and a few pictures.

This was my review:-

James and Mel were happy to pose for me

  1. We try to eat mostly at our local eateries not the chain food spots.

  2. Good reviews like that are always appreciated, I'm sure!

  3. They deliver? Oh, wait, probably not as far as Australia, the food would get cold. Ah well, I have a Macca's nearby with its fake burgers that I almost never buy anyway.
Urban Burger sounds a really fabulous place and I hope they get more business from your review.

  4. I like burgers but I am a messy eater at the best of times, so a burger usually leaves me in need of a shower. Do you know whether they are also in Ripon or Harrogate?

  5. I like the idea of promoting worthy businesses. I judge price against the experience of what I review on Trip Advisor. Some people expect 5 star for a 2 star price. I am not sure how many reviews I've written but I think only four have been negative, all well deserved. Good on Urban Burger.

  6. I don't like the tattoos. Well I quite like the Edinburgh one. It looks good food. My favourite dining and drinking in Blighty is Wetherspoon's. They let me charge my phone on my roughing it festival trips.

  7. It's so important to identify good service and food, it's far to easy to moan, we love to use local small businesses.

  8. You are such a nice soul. And I love that you took the time to post this. People are always very quick to post negative reviews; not so quick w/positive ones.

  9. unfortunately we're all too good at leaving negative feedback when things have gone wrong..... but we rarely feel energised to leave good feedback when things go right..... i, personally, am a fan.... well done

  10. I rely on trip advisor a lot when I am traveling and trying to find a place to eat. I also like to eat at local establishments whenever I can instead of the chains. It is sad how chains in the US have monopolized things in such a way where everywhere one goes everything is the same. Different is good!
