Okay - so these were the blogging-related questions that John Gray posed at "The Blogger Arms" last night. To his immense irritation, he had to repeat some of the questions several times and there were problems with the overhead projector too. One blogger who shall remain nameless tried to use her smartphone to cheat so The Quizmaster screwed up her answer sheet in disgust. As usual, the answers are given in the Comments section.

ReplyDelete2. Google
3. 60 million

5. John Gray.
6. I do not know.

Six wrong; oy! But #9 was a trick question.
9 was a simple anagram that a smart guy like you should have been able to nail very easily Bob!
DeleteHiding my head in shame as I got only 50%! Thanks for having us round, YP :)
ReplyDeleteif your cup was half full you would be delighted Jenny.
Delete7/10 but I was stone cold sober, thanks to the anti Canadian bias on this blog. Canadians are not a sensible people, at times:) Certainly not when we're drinking.
ReplyDeleteAre you 100% Canadian Pixie? I recall that your mother was born in England. This may explain your intemperance. May I assure you that I am NOT racially prejudiced against Canadians!
DeleteCanada and its citizens are flavour of the month, aren't they?
DeleteAda was a bad woman and the crowds in Ottawa chanted, "Can Ada! Can Ada!" -hence the name of that vast country.
DeleteOMG, only 4/10! I hope my blogging licence doesn't get revoked.
ReplyDeleteThere should indeed be licences for blogging. I would happily give you one Debra!
DeleteIt's fun to look at all the answers I didn't know.
ReplyDeleteSo you had to look at all ten?
Delete3, embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteAs we age, the old grey matter deteriorates Margaret. I should know!
Deletejust 6/10. 600 million blogs! (one I had no idea on) - I wonder how many are still active.
ReplyDeleteNobody knows. There's a lot of guesswork.
Delete7/10 for me this time. I didn't think there were still 600m blogs since so many have gone to facebook and tiktok or whatever; I thought Meike's blog was The Librarian; and didn't have a clue about #10.
ReplyDeleteYes - 600 million blogs but lord knows how many of them remain active. Many blogs are to do with businesses which we more personal bloggers might tend to forget.
DeleteWell I got 5 which I knew and a few more which were informed guesses. It made me realise that my links with Blogland are not what they once were. I find that upsetting given the length of time I've been involved with Blogland.
ReplyDeleteCome in from the cold Graham. The gates of Blogland will always open for you.
DeleteAh, sorry, what? I missed all that. Too many G&Ts.
ReplyDeleteNorthsider will have also been a big distraction.
DeleteOnly 4 correct! 4,5,8 and 9!
ReplyDeleteObviously I got No 9 just from the description of the blog!!
Your performance was on a par with several others. I put it down to those green cocktails.
DeleteI got 1,2,5,6,9.
ReplyDelete3 was a surprise to me. Active blogs by real people would be a much lower number, especially after the sharp decline in blogging in the wake of Twitter and then other social media platforms.
Couldn't be bothered backtracking to check 7 ("Will this be in the test, Sir?"); should probably have guessed 10.
Not so clever after all Marcellous!
DeleteDismal, 4/10. 1,2,5 & 9 correct.
ReplyDeleteAt least you got four right which is pretty good for an Australian farm boy.
DeleteOh dear, 5/10, but I blame the sangria!
ReplyDeleteYes. Sangria does tend to rot the old grey matter.
DeleteI only missed #8, but that‘s because I am not a regular reader of that blog. For fairness, I should have one point deducted because I am the subject of one of the questions.
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, I thought number 6 would trip you up!
Delete4/10, I am a blog failure.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you would be good at macrame.
Delete8 out of 10. I misread one question - slow down I move to fast.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best scores!
Delete1. 1999
ReplyDelete1. ?
3. 600 million
4. (d ) Bless our hearts
5. John Grey
6. Don't know but she's a librarian.
7. (c) sparkling water
8.?
9.?
10. (c)
5/10 - could do (much) better.
Good heavens! I believe you were once a teacher so this result is staggering.
DeleteI got 6 correct but cheated on two of those.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a blogger - just a commenter so that's my excuse.
"Cheated"? Don't you mean you worked creatively or used your initiative?
DeleteI must tell you I was surprised to see my header in the midst of your quiz!
ReplyDeleteI like your distraction technique Mary - avoiding sharing your score.
DeleteI missed no. 3 and no. 10. It's amazing there are 600 million blogs, though I wonder what constitutes a "blog" to be counted. A lot of things I see online posted as "blogs" I would not call a blog -- more like a static web page. And yeah, as one of your other commenters suggested, I bet a lot of them are defunct.
ReplyDeleteThe question did not include the adjective "active" so suck it up dude!
Delete6/10…hangs head in shame
ReplyDeleteWhy? Compared with some of the quizzers your performance was fine.
DeleteOnly 3/10. I blame you for making me drink tequila shots! (Not used to pub life at all. I should have been seated at the Canadian table!) ...
ReplyDeleteYou could have sat at the Swedish table but you would have been on your own Monica - with a large glass bowl of alcoholic punch.
