"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen... he has been very threatening beyond a normal state. They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power - the likes of which this world has never seen before..."
- Donald Trump speaking at The Trump National
Golf Center. Bedminster N.J. 8/8/17
Oh, shit.
ReplyDeleteYes - Oh,shit - especially if you live in Guam, South Korea or Japan.
DeleteI'm trying not to think about this. It scares me to death. As Rozzie just said....Oh, shit.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine President Obama ever using inflammatory language like that.
DeleteHe still hasn't figured out that this is not another of his businesses, where he can just declare bankruptcy if things don't work out ...
ReplyDeleteIf Trump read your comment, his finger would be pointed right at you - "YOU'RE FIRED!"
Deleteever the statesman
ReplyDeleteDiplomatic language is always so cagey.
DeleteNot the best piece of grammar that I've seen. He's also getting very close to the "put up or shut up" stage now as well, you can only threaten people so many times before they ignore you and laugh at you.
ReplyDeleteThe American press say that this scary threat was ad-libbed, not premeditated...but of course they only deal in FAKE news. It's all FAKE, FAKE!
DeleteIt is scary, but at the same time ridiculous. Also, I ca not help thinking of what an East-German politician said in the summer of 1965: "Nobody intends to build a wall..." and we all know that the opposite happened only a very short time later. So maybe the opposite of this threat will happen - nothing.
ReplyDeleteI hope your logic is right and I hope that American military will find a way of dodging the instructions of their "commander in chief".
DeleteHe seems to have forgotten that the world has already witnessed the US Atomic bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima ?
ReplyDeleteHis scary threat came right between the anniversaries of the nuking of those two cities.
DeleteMyself I can deal with things like this but my Grandchildren get very frightened.

Do your grandchildren live in Guam?
DeleteOf course not. I meant in general surely you could understand that.
DeleteI feel I have been whacked with a wet haddock!
DeleteTo the caves.....to the caves!
ReplyDeleteI see there is a cave under Gop Hill. It will get very crowded in there but communal singing will help.
DeleteSo maybe the opposite of this threat will happen - nothing.

Thanks for your well-considered input Roth.
DeleteAre they all quaking in their boots in North Korea, or laughing their heads off?
ReplyDeleteI suspect that the majority of North Koreans will be totally unaware of Trump's remarks. Let's hope his threat is like his Great Wall... the wall that will never be built.
DeleteTwo silly men with even sillier hairstyles, who unfortunately have so much power they could destroy the world. I'm building a bunker just in case.
ReplyDeleteYou mean you are taking up golf?
DeleteI heard Kim's nukes are supposed to be able to make it down here, oh christ
ReplyDeleteYup! You are one of his top ten targets Craig. He can read your thoughts.
DeleteRemember how Saddam Hussein used to threaten "The Mother of All Wars"? It's always comforting to have our president echoing Saddam Hussein.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I don't know why Trump doesn't realize that North Korea is like an insecure child in a classroom, jumping up and down and misbehaving in an effort to win attention. Do they bear watching? Certainly. Is it productive to threaten them? Not in the least.
Let's hope the child doesn't have a tantrum and throw some of his toys out of the pram.
DeleteWe actually have a lot in common with the North Korean people. They have no internet so the lies they are told they believe. We do have internet and the lies we were told by Russian hackers about Clinton we believed too. We both have narcissist nut jobs for "leaders", both with bad hair. And finally, both countries are starving...them for food and compassion and us for honesty and compassion.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but you got Bon Jovi and Big Macs!
DeleteI just despair of all the rhetoric and try not to listen to it.
ReplyDeleteCowardly I know.
I'm a news-aholic. I can't help myself.
DeleteUgh that man, I don't think he understands a word he's saying.
ReplyDeleteHe's just performing - like a seal in a zoo. But a very nasty seal.
DeleteI like the idea of Trump as President. Some people don't. We live in a democracy though. He got more votes than the other guy. When it comes to North Korea I'd tell you the North Koreans to worry because the Americans are in a different league.
ReplyDeleteYes the USA is in a different league. That's why Trump should learn to be more aloof. Not sinking to to Kim Jong-Un's level.
DeleteHe should do what Obama did which was nothing. Except play golf. The truly nothing President.
DeleteGod help us, the world is ruled by utter fools, Well, that is what the bible says , the fact of it chills my blood but faith keep me from freezing, Trump and Kimmy-lad are somewhat similar, both look like spoiled children and get easily annoyed and stampeed about. The bad hairstyle among those foul leaders seem to increase the folly.
ReplyDeleteHonesty and compassion is indeed lacking, the bad thing about that is that it's contageous, blindfolds us. That is the reason why the nuclear bombings of the past seem to glide into oblivion, Heron, gruesom !! We have to fight this, regardless of who got the most votes. I vote for peace, in vain perhaps but still hoping. Keep watching the news YP, and give your comments, I think we need it!!!
Sometimes I wish that women ruled the world.
DeleteNo you don't, several women have ruled the world and been just as foolish and bloodthirsty as any man. I'm afraid it lies deeper than gender. Thank you anyway, YP!!
DeleteWell, Obama had his chance to fix the North Korea problem (and other problems)...but he did nothing. All he did was flap his ears; and smile as if he was in a toothpaste commercial!
ReplyDeleteThe situation is becoming more serious by the minute...and it has been doing so for many years. This should have been sorted out years ago.
That little fat toad upstart in North Korea should have his toys taken away from him...and firmly put in his place....once and for all.
President Obama was a peacemaker. The world was a safer place during his eight years - in my exceedingly humble opinion.
DeletePeacemaker? He learned how to sit on his hands and let IS rule the roost. A strange kind of peacemaker.
DeleteIt's always comforting to have our president echoing Saddam Hussein.

I feel like the US owes the world an apology for this ridiculous, dangerous man elected as our President.
