Proud

Is our son, Ian, on the threshold of  a dream? Everything seems to  be moving in the right direction.

Sixteen months ago, he and his chum Henry had the bright idea of launching a Facebook page dedicated to delicious vegan cookery. It has attracted great interest with many thousands of visitors dropping by.

Publishers got wind of it and Ian and Henry were approached by several big name publishers to produce a recipe book That book is now at the editorial stage pending its big launch next spring.
The Facebook page has now transmogrified into a polished website with links to a You Tube Channel, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. The guys are giving it all their very best shot and if it should all go pear-shaped tomorrow I would still be very proud of the effort, imagination and energy that Ian has put into this venture.

They seem to be pressing the buttons at the perfect time when many people are moving to plant-based diets. Several famous figures from film, music and sport have embraced veganism in the past couple of years and there are undoubtedly many good ethical and health reasons for following that dietary direction.

To visit the new Bosh! website, go here.
Co-incidentally, Ian and Henry featured
in "The Guardian" this very day

  2. It's a fabulous site, and the video at Wagamama's was sooooo much fun to watch. The boys have tons of charm and an important message for the world. They have got true entrepreneurial energy, and I can't see how this isn't the beginning of an empire a la Gordon Ramsay and Rachel Ray. WELL DONE.

  5. I'm glad to hear it's going so well! Dave has largely become vegetarian because of his Crohn's. And I was veg for years, but then moved away from it when Dave was eating meat -- so now I'm back in veg-land, too. It's definitely the trend of the future among many of us!

That picture is interesting. Are they hitting a watermelon with a hammer? Bravo to the photog who took it -- they only had one chance to get it right!

    1. I don't know what's going on in that picture but the lads have invented two or three vegan cocktails that involve hollowing out big fruits.

    1. I hope you pick up one or two delicious vegan recipes Drita. Before refrigeration our ancestors ate far less meat.

  7. Great news, and I think, too, that your pride in your son is fully justified!
Vegan cocktails? Apart from cocktails containing milk or cream (or egg, which I don't drink), I can not imagine cocktails being anything but vegan. I'd like to know more!

  8. What a shot the photographer caught there!

You SHOULD be very proud of your son and his friend. They are doing well and I expect working very hard. True entrepreneurs. They deserve everything that they've worked for.

    1. Neither of them attended university. They have had to find different routes and maybe now the path they are on is really leading to success.

    2. Far too many kids go to university (here at least) and still end up unemployed or under-employed. It's not the be-all and end-all. Hard work and finding a niche you love is a combination that works.

  14. I'm not a vegan but I can tell you that I will be trying some of those recipes; they are beautifully represented in the photos and a brief glance at a couple of recipes tells me they are uncomplicated and do not use difficult to source ingredients.
I wish them well in this venture; it proves university education is not always a requirement for doing well. Talent, hard work and focus can go a long way towards achieving goals.

    1. Like me you can be a flexitarian Alphie. I think that is a good word. We can eat vegetarian or vegan dishes without going the whole hog.
