Despite my love of astronomy, I missed three of them: 1, 3, and 10. I'm okay with 7/10, though I feel kinda stupid for missing the first one. Duh,. Thanks for a new quiz! (my offer still stands)
ReplyDeleteYou gave me the guesting idea and I am thinking of asking somebody else.
DeleteI look forward to seeing who!
DeleteSheesh, only 5/10 on this one. But I DID get "waxing gibbous" -- by the Goddess, I know the moon phases!
ReplyDeleteI love that term, "waxing gibbous". It belongs in a poem.
Delete6 out of 10. That's over half, right? I'm a genius!
ReplyDeleteDid you cheat?
Delete1. [d]
ReplyDelete2. I ought to know this.
3. I've no clue.
4. [c]
5. [b]
6. [c]
7. Keith Moon.
8. Almost nekkid moon?
9. I ought to know this, too. But even my guess was wrong.
10. [b]
6 of ten.
Good lad Bob!
DeleteI missed #1 and 7, but I have good excuses: I don't use miles for distances, but kilometers, and I was too lazy to convert the numbers you gave. Plus I have never cared about The Who and so didn't know the guy's name, although of course I guessed that it had to be a "moony" name.
ReplyDeleteExcuses, excuses!
DeleteI did so badly I should feel ashamed, only 4 correct, but I know I do better sometimes so I'm not too ashamed.
ReplyDeleteNever attempt my quizzes when intoxicated!
DeleteLousy, with only 1,3,4 and 10 correct. I really need to study my gibbous.
ReplyDeleteI suspect you have spent too long studying your waxing gibbous!
Delete5 .... pretty poor attempt
ReplyDeleteI agree... or as they used to say in your old school, "Well done Foxy!"
DeleteI am surprised to get 7 correct! Not 2,3 or 9. Educated guesses some of them!
ReplyDeleteSee above Frances! Seven makes you a ruddy brainbox!
DeleteWait, wait, bear with me... I'll get some of them in a minute ....
ReplyDeleteNo googling allowed!
DeleteThanks for throwing in some Swedish, or I would have ended up with zero this time! (To be very precise, "månen" = "the moon"; while just "/a/ moon" = /en/ "måne".) (Sorry, just trying to make up for all the names and facts NOT stored in my memory...)
ReplyDelete"månen" has a tiny moon over the letter "a".
DeleteI was mooning about too long and didn't get time to answer. I'll have to plan-et better next time.
ReplyDeleteWere you on the back seat of a bus when you mooned?
Delete7/10 - thanks to a couple of wild guesses!
ReplyDeleteWhere were these wild geeses?
DeleteI missed the waxing gibbous and was tempted with Mount Hegseth, but proudly claim 9/10
ReplyDeleteAnd even better I am just back from an afternoon quiz. There was a tie and so the quiz master gave us a tie breaker question “how far, on average is the moon from the earth”…I confidently wrote down 263.800…didn’t get it spot on but was easily closest and my team of three won the tie breaker question over the team of 5.
DeleteHurrah! I think that is what we call serendipty!
Delete90% this time, I missed #7, I had the first name as Peter. On number 9, it has to be a round number, because the lunar module held two people.
ReplyDelete6 out of 10 correct. I guessed at several.
ReplyDeleteInstinct may have played its part Ellen.
DeleteYou truly made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteOne of the options was going to be (d) Quite Contrary.
DeleteIn other words- two correct answers possible.
DeleteI missed three -- the distance, the number of astronauts (who knew?!) and the Swedish word for moon. I'd have gotten the distance if I'd thought about it, but I kind of breezed past that one because...numbers!
ReplyDeleteSeven out of ten is not bad for someone with your I.Q..
DeleteI always enjoy the multiple choice distractors.
ReplyDeleteKnew 4,7,8&10 off the top of my head, 1 was the only credible answer and I guessed 5 from context. Should have worked out 3 as the cognate germanic form. As for the rest, not a clue.
Marvellous Marcellous Strikes Again!
DeleteHow vainly men themselves amaze...
DeleteThe guns of Navarone
ReplyDeleteNow THAT made me laugh
Can't you remember when Gregory Peck sang as the guns were blazing...
DeleteWe're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon River and me
No. But there's a great scene in the Almodovar film "Bad Education" (La mala educación) featuring the song. Difficult to feel the same way about the song after seeing it. If you haven't seen the film, I recommend it. It's a wild ride!
Delete3, hangs my head. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteHow about a medical quiz?
