Today...A five mile walk in the nearby Peak District. The weather was as perfect as weather can be and the air was crystal clear. I slogged up Parkin Clough and then a flatter path that later descended to the tiny village of Aston. On to the slightly larger village of Thornhill before following the bed of an old railway that led back to Yorkshire Bridge where Butch was parked. I felt very calm in a Zen kind of way and took several rests along the route - sometimes just to pause and appreciate the beauty around me. A day like this one - it seemed like a reward for enduring the short grey days of January and February. There was light and greenery and new born lambs and it felt very good to be alive.
Retirement blooms in Aston - specially for fellow blogger Mr Steve Reed.
The first photo is wonderfully framed, especially with the cow posing so perfectly in the centre foreground!
ReplyDeleteYou had a beautiful day for a walk and captured some lovely scenes. I think my favorites are looking up the tree and the carved woodpecker.
ReplyDeletethere was lots of interesting stuff to see on this walk. And yes some super spring weather.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and very pretty blooms for Steve. Why does the lamb have a yellow stripe painted on it?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good day to be alive. And a wonderful set of photos to prove it!
ReplyDeleteEaster Monday was just such a day for us, too.
Peace and quiet. We have booked a week at Foolow in August. Maybe we could meet up for a brew?
ReplyDeleteA lovely set of photos. We were having a discussion about wind turbines going up on the moors, this time between Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall, it 'spoils' the look of Bronte country. But then, the endless stone walls of the moors haven't been there that long.
ReplyDeleteA perfect walk, on a perfect day, in beautiful scenery. The best tonic there is.
ReplyDeleteLove that woodpecker sculpture! - and the other photos too :)
ReplyDeleteI love to walk and explore. You live in such a great place to take those walks. I usually walk about five to six miles a day. It has become my therapy.
ReplyDeleteJealous of your works.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos. I'm feeling your zen all the way across the pond and into the Midwest.
ReplyDeleteAlways great to see sheep. It is a pretty time of the year.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I used to have 2 soccer goals like that in my backyard when my kids were young. Long gone but that brought back happy memories.
ReplyDeleteThat woodpecker is so cool!
Lovely photos of what sounds like a lovely walk. Lucky man.
ReplyDeleteLove the Aston blooms, as well as the green woodpecker. Is that on a trail marker post? I've been doing a lot of walking here too, and I've felt the same way -- joy at just being outside and in the sunshine, FINALLY.
ReplyDeleteThe bird (woodpecker?) in the tree is clever. Some trees seem to have developed leaves, while others wait a little longer.
