Pigeon flying from a street lamp in Rhodesia - I am rather proud of this one.
It's another lovely summer's morning in northern England so soon I will be setting out for further photographic rambling but before I go, I want to just leave a little record of the walk I took late on Wednesday afternoon to the west of Worksop in northern Nottinghamshire. Rather than the usual scenic shots, here are some "details" from my circuitous route.
Broken pottery on a dump near Netherthorpe Aerodrome
Carving on Shireoaks Parish Church
Windsock at Netherthorpe Aerodrome
"Private" - rear entrance to dilapidated Shireoaks Hall
Railway track near Darfoulds.
Now where are my boots? The sun is beaming down but yesterday evening we had a torrential downpour and the sky was thick and leaden as thunder boomed and lightning danced. This is something I have grown to love about British weather - its sheer unpredictability. You never know what you are going to get. Onwards Oates!

  1. You can indeed be proud of the pigeon taking flight! The broken pottery looks like it was arranged like this on purpose. Some people would sell this as art and make stacks of money with it.
Of course you are not surprised to read that I especially like the dilapidated Shireoaks Hall. It would be very hard for me to resist from going in to explore.

    1. Meike - If you did climb over the gate to Shireoaks Hall you would probably be chased by a big German Shepherd with bared teeth! And you are welcome to purchase the rights to my artistic crockery picture.

  2. I always enjoy your rambles. This one appeals as the subjects you chose to show are so diverse.

    1. Thank you Lee. I take many pictures and only occasionally do I sit smugly and think "Yeah - that's a good un!"

  5. Amazing close up studies, Mr. Pudding. You are an awesome photographer.

And, as they say in Colorado, "If you don't like the weather now, wait five minutes"!

    1. Good saying Mama Thyme. Yesterday wall to wall sunshine and today as I write this (Sunday) Hurricane Bertha has trundled in from the West Indies - albeit in a much less powerful form.

    1. I dedicate that pigeon to you Jenny! In fact I hereby christen that pigeon Jenny. It is attractive, covered with feathers and has a sharp beak and talons. It also likes to sit on lamp posts and doesn't mind where it poops.

  7. I shall add my praise to the list of comments in praise of the pigeon picture. I might, as a fellow pedant (partly reformed), be tempted to question how one would introduce a pigeon to the Christian faith.
