November 6th at "The Hammer and Pincers" quiz. No Danny again as he and his lady have now moved to Buxton - the highest market town in England. It is twenty eight miles away from here. Mike is suffering from something called myasthenia gravis - a rare long-term condition that causes muscle weakness. It most commonly affects the muscles that control the eyes and eyelids but is also affecting his speech and ability to eat. And then there's Mick - our James Bond, film and pop music specialist. We each bring something different to the quiz table.
Here are just five of tonight's questions with answers below. No cheating now.
- Which Indian curry accompaniment consists of yoghurt, mint, cucumber and mild spices?
- Which pop artist recently issued "Midnight" - her tenth hit album ?
- Anagram - a flying creature - VIBRATE MAP.
- Which European city airport has the code BCN ?
- Who taught Oliver Twist to steal in the Charles Dickens novel of that name?
2. TAYLOR SWIFT
3. VAMPIRE BAT
1,4 and 5 correct. I should have worked out the vampire bat, but I didn't.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed that you got Raita.
DeleteI failed to answer even a single question. Good thing I'm not on your team.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd be great on our team Nurse Pixie! You could fetch the beers... and pay for them!
Deletewell i got one of them!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. It's a bit too late to go back to school Kylie.
DeleteDid your team win? Unfortunately, I have not managed to get my team together for one last quiz before the start of our Christmas market; no quiz during those four weeks since the place will be packed every night with people who just want to warm up, drink and maybe eat but not play a quiz.
ReplyDeleteOf your five questions, funnily enough I was most sure about Taylor Swift. Normally, I don‘t know facts about current music, but I happened to hear that on O.K.‘s car radio on the way to the village on Friday night.
Of course I have heard about Taylor Swift but I have never heard any of her music! My team got what is called a "line" on our Bingo-type answer sheets but we didn't get the top score. Does O.K. drive like Michael Schumacher?
DeleteNot at all - he does not race but tries to drive sensibly.
DeleteI could not identify any Taylor Swift song if they were playing them on the radio, but they were talking about her new album and somehow the trivia part of my mind registered and stored that bit of information.
I am tempted to buy a CD of "Midnight" - that is if CD's are still produced! Good to hear that O.K. drives safely when his princess is on board.
DeleteI worked out Vampire Bat by writing the letters alphabetically, but forgot about The Artful Dodger and could only remember Fagin who controlled the boys. I was clueless with the other questions.
ReplyDeleteNever mind River. You gave it a go!
DeleteI cheated.
ReplyDeleteAnd now you are barred from the pub!
DeleteI'd need Mick in my team.
ReplyDeleteHe's also devilishly handsome.
DeleteI got 3 out of 5. I definitely new Raita. I think she's got a sister called Donna kebab.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Donna! She likes to be turned round slowly on a spit.
DeleteI scored a 0 today,
ReplyDeleteOh dear! You must pay more attention nin class!
DeleteGood job you weren't relying on me to join your team! I only managed Vampire Bat and Barcelona! I thought of Fagin first as the answer to the last one, forgotten about The Artful Dodger. As the first two - I hadn't a clue!
ReplyDeleteShame there weren't any questions on ironing this week.
DeleteNo cheating here--I knew 2,4,5.
ReplyDeleteWishing Mike the best.
Not bad Mary. Not bad.
DeleteA wooden spoon for me, I didn't know raita or Taylor Swift.
ReplyDeleteThree out of five ain't too bad Sue.
DeleteI got 'em all! But I must admit Taylor Swift was a lucky guess.
ReplyDeleteGold star for you my friend! Well done!
DeleteI only got one out of five and it was the reading one which tends to be my specialty along with history. Pop culture is one of my weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteTaylor Swift ain't gonna like you when she finds out!
DeleteI only got the first and last one right. Sorry, sir. Am I a dunce?
ReplyDeleteWe can be whatever we want to be Christina. All you need to do is believe in yourself... and you can be a quiz champion too. Big oaks grow from small acorns.
DeleteI got a couple of them right, including Taylor Swift whom I don't even like! If this posts more than once, blame a cat on my keyboard. Ugh.
