Eh?

As you might imagine, I put a lot more time and effort than usual into yesterday's blogpost - "Song". And yet only a few inhabitants of the blogosphere came to call - far fewer than usual.

Magically many blog owners can see immediately when a blogger of their acquaintance has created a new post. All they have to do is to check out their sidebars. I have noticed that this normally happens with "Yorkshire Pudding" posts too. However, in relation to "Song", it just wasn't happening in other people's sidebars. I have no idea why that should be so.

Anyway, today's little post is mainly a test - to see if the sidebar alert facility is still mysteriously refusing to include my new posts. Perhaps it's just vanity but I would like a few more people to listen to my song and perhaps to feed back too. I must admit that for me personally it is the most significant blogpost I have put out in a long while and making the YouTube video was no mean feat for someone of my limited computer ability.

Please see previous post.

  3. I always look at my sidebar for which friends have posted recently. That is why I am here right now, as a matter of fact. But, no, there was no notice that you had posted an entry titled Song. Very strange, indeed.

  4. "Song" did not appear in my sidebar but today's post showed up as usual. I wonder what the glitch was. This has happened to me just once and the only thing I did differently that time was to make an edit to the post immediately after it published - within seconds of posting. I assumed I had somehow caused a conflict between the two commands, Publish and Edit. Any chance that happened here? I figured it out the same way you did - by realizing I had not received comments from a number of regular commenters.

  6. I'm glad you made this post otherwise I would not have seen your "Song" post! I read blogs through Blogger and they are posted in the order they are published - or they are supposed to be posted in that order. I sign onto Blogger, click on "Reading List" and all the blogs I follow pop up in order. The last post that came up from you (before today's post) was "Passenger". When I read today's post I clicked on your blog title "Yorkshire Pudding" knowing that would bring up all of your posts and sure enough, there was "Song"! So gratefully I was able to find and read it using that method. I am afraid Blogger has played a bad trick on you as it sometimes will do! Glad I found it for I love your song!

  9. I have noticed that sometimes the sidebar updates an hour or even a day after a post. I've never worked out why. I may have missed song because you posted while I slept

  11. OK and I are still enjoying the last weekend of our holidays together, so that I am not spending much time online. But I will definitely read your "song" post.

  12. As I don't do a blog, I don't have a sidebar, but you are on my "bookmarks bar" and every morning at breakfast I work my way down it to read what my friends have been talking about. You are actually third from the top just after Jennifer in Florence and 2 above Weaver !

  13. Hmmmm..that's weird! I saw it in my sidebar. I don't know why it wouldn't be turning up in other people's.
