Design

Incredible as it may seem, there are bloggers out there in the blogosphere who have never even heard of the prestigious "Laughing Horse" Blog Awards! That's like a published author who has never heard of The Booker Prize or a nuclear physicist who has no knowledge of Nobel prizes. Amazing!

As most visitors to this humble blog will recall implicitly, the "Laughing Horse" blog awards have their origins in the misty far distance of blogging history. I remain honoured that the awards' chief vehicle of expression is this very blog. Why "Yorkshire Pudding" ever  got the nod I have no idea.

Each year an award winning designer is picked to produce a new award widget. For 2014, the well-known Milanese designer Roberto Bragezzi received the honour for the first time and I am happy to report that his unique design for the 2014 widget was received in the "Laughing Horse" offices just this morning.

I am able to reveal it exclusively here and now;-

This year's main image which is of course the central focus of the widget is drawn from Bragezzi's exhaustive research into plastic jewellery of the early 1930's. He said, "I discovered zis vintage brooch whenna I wassa visiting upstatea New York and immediately I thought of ze Laughing Horse widget. I love ze burgundy hue which I hevva replicated in ze background."

Blogging guests from around the world are already jetting into Robin Hood Airport ready for the 2014 "Laughing Horse" awards ceremony which is to be held at Haddon Hall near Bakewell on New Year's Eve. Let's hope the proceedings go more smoothly and less drunkenly than they did last year at Chatsworth House.

Who will be the "Laughing Horse" winners this year? Watch this space!

  1. I have never heard of the Laughing Horse Blog Awards; and I doubt that I have yet!

The new year hasn't even begun...and it's not even April 1st...so I stand back, tapping my foot; humming a melody quietly to myself and me...waiting...waiting....for the other boot to drop.....

    2. And while I'm here a-tapping and a-humming a thought passed through my addled brain....."Laughing Horse"....that would be a great name for a pub; if it isn't already.

    3. Oh Lee, Lee, Lee...my little brush tailed possum - what a sheltered life you have endured - to have never heard of The Laughing Horse awards! To sample the history of this famous honour, please go way back into the mists of time - to December 2008 and read this post...

  2. Well I think you have outdone yourself this year YP in your choice of designer for the prestigious widget. You have brought a touch of class to Pemberley.

    1. Yes Roberto Bragezzi with his dapper goatee beard and clever wit was a genuine coup for the "Laughing Horse" awards team. It is a pity you are no longer blogging Carol as the office sweepstake listed you as a potential winner of the top award!!!!

    2. The thought of winning the Laughing Horse award could possibly entice me back to the fold in 2015 ~ my detox therapy is going well YP, I am feeling strong enough again to blog in moderation, but then you know what they say ~ once an addict, always an addict. It would only take one blog post and I could set back my recovery by months ~ sigh

    3. You could mask the side-effects of your addiction with a new blog persona. An Aussie rugby league player called Bruce perhaps - with an original and imaginative blog title - e.g. "Bruce's Blog".

    1. You are now in a higher blogging division your earlship - soaring far above we humbler bloggers. But it is to your eternal credit that you still recognise your roots.

  5. I remember that the 2013 Laughing Horse Awards Blogger of the Year was none other than Tom (A Hippo On The Lawn) in Angola. I also remember that Tom spent a great deal of time during 2014 in hospital in England and has not posted a single word since August. I fear that the dreaded Laughing Horse Awards Curse may have reared its ugly head (no pun intended).

But your choice of Roberto Bregezzi for designer of this year's award is truly an inspired one. I have admired his work from afar greatly for quite some time and bask in his reflected glory. I have often been mistaken for him in the local Aldi's.

    1. Now you come to mention it, there is a striking physical similarity between yourself and Roberto Bragezzi (NOT Bregezzi - which means "shoveller of manure" in Italian). The insinuation that there is some connection between Laughing Horse awards and the demise of previously prolific bloggers is outrageous in the extreme!

  6. I remember well last year's post about the event, and how I felt just a tad excluded because no-one had thought of inviting me. This year, I already am attending someone's New Year's Eve party, but I am looking forward to getting a full report of the proceedings.

    1. Well it is a crying shame you cannot be at Haddon Hall this year Miss Arian! I was looking forward to meeting you and had earmarked Lady Manners's bedroom specially for you. It has a fifteenth century four poster bed. Ah well, I guess I'll have to take that one myself now.

  7. This design is up there with the best of classical design. Pininfarina and Fabergé eat your hearts out.

    1. You are an excellent judge Adrian! See you at the event. I have reserved the ostler's quarters for you and ordered some new straw.
