ANSWERS
ReplyDelete1. Washington D.C.
2. Auckland
3. Tokyo
4. Rome
5. Cape Town
6. Mexico
7. Egypt
8. France
9. Norway
10. Australia
You'll be unpleasantly surprised that - apart from the obvious - I found myself in the wilderness. No 9 made me feel almost as nauseous as that dreadful photo of workmen having lunch atop a skyscraper in Manhattan, NY, ca. 1932 - legs dangling. Works every time.
ReplyDeleteNo 3 - my vision of hell.
U
I'm going to have to put more effort into your wqizzes. there's some good stuff that I could learn.
ReplyDeleteA gentleman from the noble teaching profession should have had no trouble getting at least seven out of ten!
DeleteOnly 5. :(
ReplyDeleteI hope you got Number 8 Margaret - with you being a retired French teacher and all!
DeleteI had no idea re No 9. 2 is a bit generic but To my shame (given it was in Oz as am I) I also didn't get 10, though in hindsight I wasn't paying enough attention. I thought it could also be USA. The car driving on the left hand side of the road should have led me to rule that out.
ReplyDeleteAlso the red dirt in number 10 strongly suggests the Australian hinterland. I didn't know you are Australian Marcellous. With a name like that I thought you were probably French...or even worse - Belgian!
Deletebtw, to clarify (because some typing seems to have been lost) despite its genericity, I did get 2.
DeleteAppreciate the reverse Poirot joke though I'm more of a fan of Tintin.
"Down with the French-speaking Walloons and freedom for Flanders, that's what I say. That's where my forebears came from. Well, three of them..."
(old joke which just came to mind)
The Walloons sound like a family of cartoon characters - similar to The Simpsons but wackier.
DeleteLike Ursula, I wasn't doing too well this time, only getting 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10 right. And like Ursula, the Tokyo picture makes me want to run in the opposite direction. Too many people, too many lights, too many skyscrapers. I am not good with big cities, coming from a small-ish town and loving to walk in a reasonably natural environment.
ReplyDeleteSeven out of ten is not too bad Meike.
Delete1- Washington
ReplyDelete2- London
3- Tokyo
4- Rome
5- no idea
6- South America
7- Egypt
8- Italy
9- Iceland/Denmark/Sweden? Canada?
10- Australia.
I thought you would get Auckland!
DeleteFive out of ten for me this time. I thought about Norway for #9, should have written it!
ReplyDeleteYes you should have! Silly billy!
DeleteOh dear, I got 6 and 8 wrong.
ReplyDeleteI thought 6 was easy. When was the last time you had an eye test JayCee?
DeleteThis was the hardest so far.... I only got 4 . I am not very well " travelled" ! (Of all those places I have only been to France)
ReplyDeleteHave you been to Luton? Perhaps - St Albans?
DeleteWell, for once I managed 10/10! Having actually been to all but four of the places/countries shown, helped. I've even been very near to the precipice on photo 9!
ReplyDeleteYou are top of the class Carol! Well done!
DeleteCould one of them be Wetwang?
ReplyDeleteWetwang was a figment of Richard Whiteley's imagination.
DeleteI can assure you that I have been there, and know what it looks like, and have also seen objects from Wetwang Slack. I never thought you would stoop so low as to try to cheat me out of a correct mark by citing an old Giggleswickian.
DeleteBe assured, I can stoop much lower that that Tasker.
DeleteI only got 3.
ReplyDeleteYou are clearly spending too much time gardening my lad! You need to do your Geography homework!
DeleteI have never been good at geography, Neil, so I only got 4 right! ;(
ReplyDeleteSame as Ed - below.
DeleteNot quite 50% for me with only 4 correct. My guess for number 2 was Toronto. I didn't know Auckland had a Space Needle too. Also number 10 looks like places I have been in the SW U.S., reddish soil and all.
ReplyDeleteVehicle driving on the left Ed.
DeleteCould have been swerving around a dead armadillo.
DeleteThey don't have armadillos in Australia!
DeleteAh but the do in parts of our SW where red landscapes like that occur.
DeleteI was being silly about armadillos!
DeleteI did a lot better on this one than I've done on some.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would get Number 6.
DeleteLet's just say I learned a lot... ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo. Let's just say - how many did you get?
Delete2½! (the half for one I changed my mind about, but I should have stuck with my initial gut feeling) (And had I waited to check the answers until I was on my big screen rather than my phone, I might have got at least one more.) (lol)
ReplyDeleteIs this how you used to argue at school Monica?
DeleteWell, I got five cities right but only three countries.
ReplyDeleteEight out of ten is excellent for a senior lady!
DeleteI answered but I don't see them here. I thought I did okay .....
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Bob. Bloody Blogger!
DeleteI missed two cities and two countries. It makes me feel better to see others struggled this time, too. I would never have guessed Auckland or Cape Town, but feel like I should have known Norway. As for France, it sure looks like parts of northern Italy, as well. I should have figured you wouldn't have Italy since you'd already used Rome.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you tried your best Kelly... that's all that matters. Now stop your sobbing my dear.
