Closer

Our lovely son Ian (left) was in Italy yesterday. It was a day trip with his "Bosh!" chum Henry. They were there to see their cookbook coming off the printers' production line. Already 50,000 copies of the English language version have been printed. The book will be launched at Borough Market in London on the evening of April 19th at an event called "BoshFest".

It's an exciting time for the two young men. I'm keeping everything crossed that the success they can smell - just round the corner - really does come true. They will be signing books in various Waterstones book stores around Great Britain and also travelling over to The United States to undertake some more promotional work - including at  least one TV appearance.

Surely, nothing can go wrong now. I am so proud of him. They have given this project their very best shot. In my unbiased opinion, they deserve the success that is surely waiting for them. It is a good news story.

    1. They seem to be coming to the market at the right time - interest in veganism has grown tremendously.

  2. They have already made it as far as I can see but they will need to become masters of re-invention for longevity in a very fickle business.
I love their stuff and I regularly see people recommending them, too

    1. I can't see that they have made any mistakes in the build up to the book's launch.

  6. Exciting times! But why Italy for the production? Was there no printing company in or around London who was willing to print the book at a reasonable price?
Anyway, all the best for the continuing journey upwards!

    1. China would have been cheaper but the shipping time was off-putting. The Italian printers were more competitive than London printers. It is, after all, a mad world.

  11. I think they are on to a winner. All of the young people seem to want to be vegan. Tom grandson is always banging on to us to drink more water and go vegan. We did try the vegan bit for a while but I think we love our meat too much.
    Goof luck to them both.

    1. The thing is Briony, it is perfectly okay to be flexitarian. A vegetarian or vegan meal one day and maybe meat or fish the next. We can mix it up.

  12. 50,000 is an ENORMOUS first run, so the publishers are showing an enormous amount of confidence in the boys. I've said it before but I'll say it again: The cover is fantastic and really sells the book.

I will look for them on American TV!

    1. I hope I got that number right Vivian - I believe I did. When I know which show they are on in the USA I will announce it here. The modern way in which the publication has been pre-empted is so different from how a new book would have been foreshadowed in past times. Social media can have some very positive benefits.

  14. How exciting! Maybe I'll motivate Dave to go over to Borough Market on the appointed day and get a copy of the book! We could certainly use it, experimenting with veganism as we are. (Is "veganism" a word?)
