Just in case you were wondering where I have gone this weekend, we are driving down to London on Saturday morning. We will be staying with The Beloved Daughter overnight and dining in a local Nepalese restaurant with The Beloved Son who will be joining us from Highbury which is in North London. The Beloved Daughter's beau will also be there.
Weather permitting I will walk on Wandsworth Common on Sunday morning. Then there'll be lunch and a lazy afternoon before we travel on to Rugby in Warwickshire. I have booked a hotel there for Sunday night. Rugby is where the game of rugby began when during a football (soccer) match in 1823, William Webb Ellis picked the ball up and ran with it. It's a great story.
So folks, this is my absence note... Back home on Monday night.
Bon voyage.
ReplyDeleteWell it sounds more like an attendance note. You are attending an exciting game. Enjoy the game!
ReplyDeleteI believe I recognize the Houses of Parliament (with Big Ben), Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, and the young Queen Elizabeth II with her first two children, Charles Philip Arthur George and Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, now Prince of Wales and the Princess Royal, respectively. No sign of Andrew or Edward or their sire-to-be Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, however.
ReplyDeleteHave fun. I haven't been to London in over a decade and I'm pretty sure I have never been to Rugby.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're in for a treat. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's just as well you gave us warning or else you would've been in lots of trouble, young man!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have/had a wonderful weekend with your family. :)
Enjoy you time with the family
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip! :)
ReplyDeleteTravel safely! What you have planned sounds very enjoyable. I've never been eating Nepalese, so I am looking forward to you telling us about that meal.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend. No doubt Mrs YP will hit the shops, and your bank account ! Not sure I'd want to battle with the Christmas crowds though.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, though I hope that the weather doesn't do what is promised! It is very damp and gloomy here 25 miles north of London, with rain forecast for later. We are meeting up with family too....lunch in a nearby pub with my brother and partner and 2 of my married kids + 2 grands.
ReplyDeleteSurely William Webb Ellis should have been sent off for deliberate handball and banned for three matches for bringing the game into disrepute.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and Shirley have a wonderful time with the Princess and her suitor. Stay dry.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend. You are a stone's throw from where my daughter is living and a longish hop from me! I'd make you a cup of tea, but I'm knee-deep in boxes of tinsel and baubles that need to be found a home around the house.
ReplyDeleteHalf your luck!
ReplyDeletehave fun
We stayed home, but enjoyed a Christmas get-together with our daughter & her boyfriend & his family, too. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as we enjoyed ours (a lot)!
ReplyDeleteHow I enjoy reading your posts!!! It's like a gentleman from an Agatha Christie novel, but without the terror!! I love the way you speak about the children, and really hope you had a good stay with the food and the walk and the rugby!!! Your Beloved daughters beau!!! What a lovely word!!
