"We hope for reports of blue skies, sunshine and pretty scenery, and the occasional description of good food to cheer us..." - Coppa's Girl

Bronze bust by the wharf at Badija |
This morning we were down for breakfast before eight o'clock. I had a glass of orange, two white coffees and the following food items - a bowl of muesli with some extra dried banana slices, a plate containing a scoop of scrambled egg, two slices of grilled bacon, a spoonful of fried mushrooms. some fried onions and a sausage. I also had a buttered bread roll.

Then we walked to the wharf at Orebic where we boarded the M/B Papa just before 8.45 am. We had booked a leisurely day trip. It took us along The Pelješac Peninsula - almost to the very end and then across the channel to the coast of Korčula.
We travelled along it until we came to the island of Badija where we had a three hour stop for exploring, swimming and perhaps visiting the large Franciscan monastery there. At 1pm we had lunch aboard the boat. The blue skies were blue, the sunshine was bright and yellowy and the scenery was pretty and green or aqua blue.
On the M/B Papa |
Shirley and I hiked all the way round the island that probably has a population of no more than twenty including some surprisingly fearless deer. After lunch we were on our way to Lumbarda which is a seaside village to the east of Korčula Island. We were there for two hours and found a surprisingly sandy beach. No diving shoes required.

I swam far out like a sealion but I did not clap my flippers nor shout "Arf! Arf!" and I certainly didn't balance a beach ball on my snout.

There - the blogpost is done. I sincerely hope that it meets with Coppa's Girl's approval. After all, I don't want to upset anybody, do I?
Returning to Orebic |
Your pictures are glorious. Sounds like your day was too.
ReplyDeleteSome days are good. Some days are in between. Some days are bad. This was a good one.
DeleteA lovely day.
ReplyDeleteYes it was Helen. Have you been to Croatia?
DeleteWow! That certainly was a huge breakfast, Yorkie!!n I've just juiced five oranges, as I do every morning, and am now sipping on a large mug of coffee made on milk as I contemplate what is ahead for this Friday, 13rh.
ReplyDeleteHere we don't want any more blue skies and sunshine for a while...we want dark, heavy clouds to generously spread their load around the parched ground, and put out all the bushfires once and for all.
But I hope you continue getting blue skies and sunshine for the balance of your holiday. :)
On our journey here from Dubrovnik we saw the black evidence of two or three forest fires. Very sad.
DeleteI take it there are no donkeys there getting mistreated, as on your last trip . . . or if there are you have sanitized your post because they, too, would upset us!
ReplyDeleteLooks like lovely weather there.
I thought it best not to post photos of donkey meat hanging in the butcher's shop - nor donkey sausages nor donkey pies. I knew such images might upset you.
DeleteSounds like a lovely day. The deer has pretty markings on, are they all like that?
ReplyDeleteYes they were Mrs Tai. I don't know which breed they were.
DeleteI think you had enough breakfast ti do you all day. Quite a boat trip when you can stop at very small islands.
ReplyDeleteWant a job as my nutritionist?
DeleteYou have some wonderful pictures and that monastery is beautiful! I am a bit confused about the bronze bust by the wharf? If it was being transported wouldn't it be packaged? It seems strange that it would be just sitting there. It is a lovely piece of art.
ReplyDeleteThat's just what I thought about the bronze bust Bonnie. Very strange. I suspect that it had arrived on the island. It wasn't leaving. Some men were working on the plaza. I suspect the head may be displayed there - on a plinth.
DeleteHoliday breakfasts - wonderful aren't they?
ReplyDeleteEspecially when someone else prepares them and there's no washing up.
DeleteAh, that's much more like it! Thank you for sharing such a perfect day, and some stunning scenery with us. Breakfast didn't sound too bad either - that would set you up for the day!
ReplyDeleteThe blue skies are a happy reminder of our weather, just a few days ago. We're now having the dark grey skies and torrential rain that Lee is praying for.
Some friends of ours went to southern Spain rather than Croatia this week. We are dry, warm and totally smug - currently feeling little pity for their wetness.
DeleteWell, I know you didn't want to upset anyone with this post but, really, your description of all that food - and me on a low-fat diet! How cruel Mr P.
ReplyDeleteOkay - tomorrow I will have a glass of water and a dry rice cake. Sorry for being so cruel. I am just Attila the Hun in disguise.
DeleteCroatia is beautiful. Another country to add to my travel list:)
ReplyDeleteSome many delightful ingredients here but be warned - there are very few sandy beaches. Diving shoes are a must to protect your feet.
DeleteWell definitely not Attila the Hungry, that's for sure. Sounds idyllic for that sort of holiday.
ReplyDeleteNo. Definitely not fasting here.
DeleteBeautiful monastery.
