Apologies

Now that we are back from our week's holiday on the Furness Peninsula, you probably thought that that would be the end of blogposts on that particular area of north western England. Well, I'm sorry, if you did think that you were mistaken because there's just this one last blogpost which  I am using to showcase ten more of the 299 images I snapped during the week. Perhaps you will kindly forgive me for this self-indulgence...

From Top to Bottom:

  2. Water pump in a sunny corner, Cartmel
  3. Rampside Hall, Rampside
  4. View from Piel Island to Walney Lighthouse

  1. That sleepy sheep looks like it's smiling. I love coffee shops, especially when I can sit outside!

  2. 12 chimneys at Rampside? Bet the chimney sweep charged double. An eclectic mix of photos especially the sheep.

    1. They call those twelve chimneys the twelve apostles. Perhaps they signified wealth and status.

  3. The statue is so detailed. I love the water pump and the rocks in the water. The Coffee Shop looks friendly, I could sit in the sun there and enjoy a cuppa.

  4. Love the second photo with the pump, and both the sheep look contented. A nice selection of memories from your holiday.

  5. Great pictures, all of them! I find Rampside Hall intriguing with its row of chimneys. The sheep scratching herself at the leaning tombstone made me smile, as did her resting colleague.

    1. Rampside Hall has a long history. The chimneys are known locally as The Twelve Apostles.

    7. I didn't guess The Needle was a lighthouse.
    9. So close to Blackpool and you didn't visit to absorb the beauty and culture?

    1. I took that picture from 30 miles away across Morecambe Bay. It would have been 45 miles by road.

  8. I would rather like that water pump as a feature in my garden. Could you nip back and fetch it for me?

  10. The needle looks lonely, and the water pump makes for a lovely still life.

  11. Anew our Sheffield seeker returns from his quest in north western England.
The Twelve Apostles of Rampside Hall (sans Judas) speed him on his way.

These images are as compelling as the gods of Easter Island.
The magickal quest is the subtext of many of your posts.

The rabbi has a big heart and a brilliant theological mind.
A New Yorker, he is now in Israel attempting to de-programme Jews who were converted by fundamentalists.
Rabbi Manis Friedman is also a great YouTube speaker of wisdom.

  16. I love that photo of the sheep rubbing itself on the headstone. It actually looks like it's drunk and is using the headstone to keep itself upright. Lovely pics.
