In that bright light
when the sky glows
with the promise of a rising sun;
when the air is cool
and moist,
and the dew lies heavy on the ground -
Then come the weavers,
threading their strands thro' the grass,
so that in the evening
when the sun is low
it shines through silken threads
that shimmer in the fading light
making
a field of gossamer.

I never ever tire of the work of The Weavers particularly when caught by the frost or mist.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they realise that their lethal traps are also works of art.
DeleteIs she okay?
ReplyDeleteI tried to be an internet detective on Saturday afternoon but failed to find out anything.
DeleteMe too but I couldn't find her.
DeleteHas there been any word on Pat? When I saw the title of your post I was almost afraid to click on it. I sure hope she's okay. :(
ReplyDeleteSee my reply to Pixie above. Let's hope her absence is down to something mundane like her computer breaking down.
DeleteThat pretty dew-sprinkled web almost looks like a chandelier.
ReplyDeleteEach droplet is a polished bead of crystal.
DeleteI miss Pat's steady presence and like you are hopeful. She has indeed woven her magic through her blog. The poem is lovely, did you write it?
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't Thelma. It is by Pat herself.
DeleteSuch a beautiful combination of words and picture.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Pat is just really busy during the days leading up to her 90th birthday tomorrow.
The last words of her last post were "See you tomorrow".
DeletePretty and peaceful
ReplyDeleteWords by an 89 year old blogger who has gone missing in action. It is or should be her ninetieth birthday tomorrow.
DeleteI'm very concerned. Other than someone updating her blog if she's ill, there's nothing we can do.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to think the worst but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
DeleteI hadn't realised that the poem was written by Pat. It is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI know her real name in full but she never let it out on the blog.
DeleteShe has been on my mind and I check her blog several times a day hoping for news. That's a lovely poem by her. Thanks for sharing her poem, Neil.
ReplyDeleteShe began her blog with the main intention of using it to showcase her poetry. But as time proceeded that initial motive got left behind.
DeleteWhat a sensitive poem, and such a beautiful photograph to capture her words. I follow Pat's blog and notice the comments of her absence. I hope that all is well.
