Daisy

How now brown cow! She was  standing in a high meadow at Fulwood Head in Sheffield's southern suburbs. When you look closely at that snout with its nostrils, doesn't it look something like an alien creature? Perhaps that's just in my crazy imagination...

At first I just thought the brown cow with the misty green suburbs beyond would make a decent picture and then when I spotted the grass still in its mush, I thought, "Zoom in!" and the top picture is the result.

I'm rather pleased with it. Take me to your leader Daisy!

  1. Love it - you can see all her individual whiskers. Yes I can see an alien face in the snout too.

  2. Did my recent photo of calves stir you in to interest in our bovine friends.
Bob Dylan last night was superb, gawd knows how many times I've seen him now.

    1. I'm more than a little envious that you saw Dylan last night Derek. I have seen him three times and I have even visited his old house in Hibbing, Minesotta. Glad he was "superb" last night as that isn't always the case is it?

    2. Well I first saw him at the Albert Hall in 1966 and many times since and yes, there have been one or two shocker concerts.

  3. I guess a close-up of a human's nostrils might also stir the imagination.

We might discover we're aliens. Perhaps, when that cow jumped over the moon the first humans ditched the cheese - hitched a ride on its back and landed here on earth!

    1. You should write a children's story Lee... "The Cow That Jumped Over The Moon" by Nanny George (your new pen name)

  5. At very first glance I thought it was a tortoise. And then I saw the grass and thought it was a horse... I think I need to go to Animal Recognition School. It's not too late at 67, is it?

Perhaps I should add I am reading this on my small tablet, so only the upper part of the the picture was showing. (I am not completely crazy. Not yet.)

    1. Oh! I can see what you mean about the tortoise Rozzy!
At 67, it's not too late for anything young lady! Have you ever tried sky diving? Mud wrestling? Swimming with dolphins? You need to start making the arrangements straight away.

  6. I love the lower pic - she looks so cool, maybe she's a professional model...
Look at her long enough though and you can almost hear her thinking: Who you looking at at?
So sad she is going to end up on a dinner plate, life doesn't seem fair.

    1. She might end up in an advert for butter then she'll be able to dodge the abattoir and rent a little holiday apartment in Cowes.

    1. You are envious of her coat? Shall I talk to the farmer about it? Would you want buttons or a zip?

  8. That IS a good picture. I love the little dewdrops of cow spit (or maybe it really is dew) clinging to her lips. Cows in Britain must be the happiest cows on the planet, with all the lush grass of our "green and pleasant land."

  9. There's something about a fuzzy face that is very endearing, whether it's a cow, a horse, a cat or a sloth.

But not men. Sorry, all you bearded men. It's just my opinion and many people have a different one!
