I am not sure if you heard the news but it seems that there is a pesky virus flying around just now. Fortunately, I spotted an antidote for it in our "Lidl" supermarket so I bought a whole box of the stuff. Being fluent in Spanish I was able to translate the words on the box; "La cerveza mas fina" which means - guaranteed to kill the virus dead.
The box contained twelve bottles of the antidote. You can see that I bought the "Extra" variety for a supplementary boost. Corona Extra Antidote is the colour of piss and tastes like it too but who cares? I drank all twelve bottles in quick succession and (hic!) I'm now tozzally immna..imo...imoon (hic!)
If only it was that easy.
Oh dear - I think it's used as paint stripper here!
ReplyDeleteWhoops!
DeleteI think we drank that when we stayed in an hotel Bastardo in Benidorm YP.
ReplyDeleteHotel Bastardo? Was it named after the current British prime minister? I guess there was a framed picture of him above every bedhead in the hotel.
DeleteTheir lunchtime speciality was soup in a basket.
DeleteFools! The soup would surely run through the weave in the basket! You need bowls for soup! Even I know that.
DeleteIf your pee is that colour I think you may need to drink more water.
ReplyDeleteWhy? What colour is your pee JayPee?
DeleteAh, now if only it was 12 bottles of gin......
ReplyDeleteAmongst the denizens of Blackburn that would just count as pre-loading before the main event. Thanks for calling by again Christina!
DeleteThank you for making me laugh this morning.
ReplyDeleteI've started to have a half a glass of wine after work, well only twice now, but it's helped relax me and I'm not so tired. I have so much angst around alcohol that I feel like I'm letting myself down to drink. I'm not an alcoholic and have no fear of ever becoming one but alcohol has destroyed so many lives in my family that it makes me worry. Mind you, right now, everything makes me worry.
I'm assuming that last photo is your garden. How lovely, green grass and flowers. We had snow again last night.
Yes. That is indeed upon the decking in our back garden Lily. Alcohol can be a pleasant aid to life when it is in moderation and under control. Don't feel too guilty about that half a glass of wine. You have earned it. Enjoy!
DeleteDearheart- you must drink that particular concoction with a lime slice. THAT is the secret antiviral agent.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nurse Moon. I will have to buy another box now!
DeleteAre you sure that is not a box of infected patients' urine samples on the way to the lab?
ReplyDeleteCertainly looks like that!
DeleteI thought Corona was lemonade. Just shows what I know.
ReplyDeleteCorona was a brand of carbonated soft drink produced by Thomas & Evans Ltd in South Wales, and distributed across the United Kingdom. The firm was created by grocers William Thomas and William Evans when they saw a market for soft drinks caused by the growing influence of the temperance movement. The company finally drew to an end in the 1990's...and moved all of its operations to Wuhan in China.
DeleteP.S. I made the last bit up!
As I'm not a beer drinker (except for very cold shandy on very hot days after very strenuous walks or hikes), I am not tempted to try this particular therapy.
ReplyDeleteI can relate very well to what Lilycedar says above. For the very same reason I do not drink on my own, and I am not going to start now. There were several bottles of stuff I really like among my birthday presents (Baileys, Chocolate Baileys and Sheridan's), but although there would be nothing wrong with having a small glass for dessert, I leave it well alone - there will be plenty of occasion for drinking when O.K. is with me, or when eventually we'l be allowed to gather round our favourite watering holes again.
I cannot imagine you stumbling around your lovely apartment with a bottle of wine or gin in your hand - shouting at the TV news.
DeleteI read that sales of Corona had dropped off recently so I'm glad to see you are doing your part to keep the company above water :)
ReplyDeleteIt is important to support small businesses.
DeleteWe can only dream of such treatment. Good sense of humor though.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to laugh just now.
DeletePoor Corona -- stuck with a truly unappealing brand name at the moment! I like the antidote sticker. Someone at LIDL has a sense of humor! (Or was that your addition?!)
ReplyDeleteYou rumbled me Detective Reed! It was me!
DeleteI just love you and your humor. You are always a bright spot in my day. Thanks
ReplyDeleteNot everyone appreciates my humour so I am glad that you do Barbara!
DeleteTo be taken three times a day, with food.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to know what you are talking about Nurse Sue!
DeleteActually, that's my favourite summer beer however, since today is International Cocktails Day I've just had a lovely G&T!
ReplyDeleteWhat day is it tomorrow Margie? International Red Wine Day? Thursday is International Neat Vodka Day and Friday is International Bacardi and Coke Day. Enjoy the rest of your week!
DeleteI suppose if you drink enough of it you will at least feel like you cannot get sick. Until the next day of course! I'm not a beer drinker but, as Ms.Moon said, I believe Corona is best with a slice of lime. I will take wine or my favorite amaretto, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI tried a bottle with a slice of lime just now. It didn't work.
DeleteGood consternoon afterable. I'm not as under the affluence of inkahol as think'll peep I am.
ReplyDeleteThe beer aisle was empty in Morrisons except for a big pile of boxes of Corona. Unfortunately, Mrs. D bought a box.
Hello Stanley Unwin II! Why do you say "unfortunately"? Mrs D was only being kind!
DeleteOr was it Jimmy James with Roy Castle as his straight man?
