Goddam

"Oh no!"

"What's wrong honey?"

"Just checking into  Blogland. That goddam Yorkshire Pudding guy!"

"What has he done to upset you now?"

"Another goddam blogpost about walking in the countryside!"

"What's wrong with that?"

"It's just so goddam tedious. And it makes me feel so goddam lazy!"

"Where's he been this time?"

"Some goddam Derbyshire village called Old Glossop. Then he has walked up onto the moors like a goddam sherpa!"

"Are there pictures Bob?"

"Yeah. Come and take a look honey."

"How delightful! I like that picture of the rocks with that city beyond. Where might that be Bob?"

"I guess it's goddam Manchester."

"Oh, don't be silly Bob! Manchester is in New Hampshire. Everybody knows that."

"Grrrrrrr!"

  1. Well well well. I've actually stayed at the The Queen's Arms. Great gatepost.

    1. So you were in the queen's arms? You rogue! Did Prince Philip get wind of it?

  2. When I saw this title I thought you must have watched the debate last night! Ha!

    1. That was not a debate Jennifer. It was a lesson in how not to debate. The Fox News moderator was utterly useless.

    2. I could only watch 20 minutes. I worry for the American people .. moderator not-withstanding, Joe Biden didn't come across as very confident.

  3. Loved the owl - every gatepost should have one!
Excellent photos as always YP, and I hope the beautiful weather and glorious scenery helped lift your spirits after your comments on yesterday's blog.
On the subject of that orange faced liar across the pond, am I the only one to wonder why someone hasn't taken a successful pot-shot at him? Or is that too contentious a comment?

    1. What a wicked thought CG! I am surprised that a mature, sensible woman of your social standing could have imagined such a thing. Tut tut! Remember that The Lord is noting down all of our sins and darkest thoughts. Thanks for calling by again CG. I hope you are well.

    2. You may read my reply to your comment any which way, Coppa. Contentious or not.

If we, "the people", can only bring down someone with a "shot" not the mighty sword of the word or, heaven forbid, by voting them in or out, then let's shoot ourselves. If only in the foot.

    3. Ah, but can the people be trusted to vote him out?

  4. I've commented on your last post, in case you didn't know.

  5. That owl is great! Is one of its eyes missing, or is it just the play of light and shadow?
Anyway, I am glad you woke up and went walking again. Would not want to be without your walking posts!

    1. How observant you are Meike! Yes. One eye was indeed missing.

    1. A slightly obtuse comment that rather flew over my head.

    2. I believe "opaque", rather than "obtuse", a more fitting description of my comment. Like you I now have no idea what I was referring to. Must have made sense (to me) at the time. Which is vaguely unsettling.

    4. Alas, I don't need sherry (make mine a fino) to go off on a tangent.

  7. YP ... did you take the first photo? Is it taken from a drone?

    1. Yes. I did take that picture Carol. Not from a drone but from a clifftop that is opposite The Dog Rock which you can see in the photo. Manchester sits on a plain beyond the Pennine Hills.

    2. Wow .. the difference in altitude is significant isn't it ..thus resembling a drone-like perspective? Nice.

    2. When I came across that moorland pool, I was nicely surprised. Amazingly, I saw a dragonfly there with a metallic blue body. The pool is at least a mile from any other standing water.

As always, I love the photos. I hope the fresh air and walking helped with the stress. Money is always stressful, or rather, lack of.

    1. I think Stan Rogers and his chums sang that song with what might be described as "gusto"! Do all Canadian guys look as rudely healthy as the chaps round that table?

  10. Lovely, serene photos - much more pleasant to reflect upon than current events (or people's opinions of them, lol...) Coincidentally, I happen to live on the outskirts of Manchester myself!

    1. That was not a debate Bonnie. It was a playground bully strutting his stuff. I am just so relieved that Joe Biden came out of it looking like the better man.

Regarding Hilltophomesteader’s whereabouts, she used to live where you thought but she and her husband sold their farm more than a year ago and moved closer to their daughter and grandchildren.

    1. Thanks for the clarification re Mrs Hilltop. As for the "Goddam" dialogue, it was of course purely co-incidental that the grumpy husband was also called Bob. After all, it is unthinkable that you would ever use the irreligious expression "goddam"!
