Fox

A break from decorating. So where did I go? To my painting class of course! But the painting class doesn't cover matt emulsion or the best way to use paint rollers. No. It's about Art with a big "A".

This was the last of six sessions. I am pleased to say that the class has given me a boost and I suspect and hope  I will continue with the pastime in a solitary fashion. It has been a case of rediscovering my mojo.

Meike in Ludwigsburg, Germany asked if I might make a picture of a fox for her so this evening I took along a photo of the old fox that used to come in our garden. We called him Fred Fox and this is the photograph I decided to base my painting upon:-
Working on coloured paper, this is the version of Fred Fox that I created after two hours at the final Art class. Perhaps Meike will like it but if she doesn't I will try to make her a different fox painting.

  2. Dare I say it, but that truly looks like a "work of art" to me, Mr Pud.

    2. I would love that. I really would! And like Meike, I would pay you for it, as well as the cost of shipping it to me. ❤ Something with birds (maybe the pheasant?) would be perfect!

  5. Bravo! A great Fred fox likeness. If Meike doesn't like that she is hard to please.....

    1. Your idea of a fox painting may not have been like this one. If you prefer I will be happy to have a go at a fox with a body - not just a head. See you in e-mail.

    2. Meike, I think it would "go" perfectly in your newly painted flat! You'll have to post photos of it hanging on your wall!

  9. Excellent YP, Meike says it all.
How sad that your classes have come to an end. Although painting is a solitary thing, it's often good to have the company, and input, of others. Do keep up the good work. You've got the longer days ahead, as you stride out into the countryside, camera at the ready. Your sketch book, pencils, water and cheese sandwiches safely stowed in your knapsack on your back....
(now I wonder if anyone's going "val de re, val de ra !)

    1. I wonder what "Val de re, val de ra!" means. I'm thinking "Get off the path cos the happy wanderer's coming through!"

  10. Very nice. Do you watch BBC's British Painting Challenge? I find it fascinating how different (amateur) artists approach each challenge.

Further to Sue's comment, you should really enjoy the British Painting Challenge, I enjoy it and I'm not into painting.

  14. Good job, my friend. Looks like Fred has been reincarnated! Even tho your painting class has ended, there are so many teachers online and on youtube. I particularly enjoy Andy Geeson from Britain and Angela Fehr from Dawson Creek, British Colombia. But there are many others.

    1. Hi Sis... I rather think that the best teacher that would-be artists should call upon is themselves. Practice may not make perfect but it can make one's work a damn sight better.
