As far as I know, I have only one friend in the city of Florence, South Carolina. Her name is Jennifer which means "the fair one". After reading my last blogpost, this is how "the fair one" commented:-
Naturally, I was upset and anxious to repair my relationship with Jennifer. After all, as an old saying declares, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned".
And so today, after driving back to Sheffield this afternoon, I am about to post a picture of Zach and his Yorkshire grandpa taken just yesterday in the top floor restaurant of the Peter Jones (John Lewis) department store by Sloane Square, London.
Grandpa is saying, "Where's the money kid? Tell me where you put it!"Zach is thinking, "There's no way I am going to spill the beans! I ain't afraid of this grandpa guy. I don't care how big he is!"
Again the little man looks kind of serious but I am happy to report that over the past four days we witnessed many smiles, interesting attempts at verbalisation and various explorations with hands and fingers. We learnt to love him more than before. Ian and Sarah are truly blessed to have little Zachary in their lives and we are too.
So I wonder what Zachary is thinking here?
ReplyDeleteHe may be thinking, "I hope that nice Mr Kline from Alberta, Canada comes to rescue me from this monster!"
DeleteHe definitely seems to be thinking hard.
ReplyDeleteIts always interesting to watch what kind of person a baby becomes
I feel I can already see something of the man that he will become long after my death.
DeleteHe looks so serious and so cute.
ReplyDeleteI wish that Shirley had captured one of his infectious smiles.
DeleteMuch better, YP. You are forgiven. :)
ReplyDeletePhew! That is a relief Fair One!
DeleteI think we all may have liked to see a photo. Zach really does have a look of "I'm not telling you".
ReplyDeleteI wish my father Philip could have met him but he died in 1979.
DeleteAww, such a little heart-melter.
ReplyDeleteHis mother is doing a great job with her love, her routines and her dedication.
DeleteThere is definitely some deep thinking going on in little Zachary's head. Imagine the load of information a baby's brain soaks up during the first year of life alone - probably more than what's going on inside our skulls over the next 80 or so :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are right. For gathering information there is never a time quite like your first year. So much to take in.
DeleteHe has a somewhat skeptical look on his face. He probably knows where the money is
ReplyDeletebut ain't about to tell ya!
He's four months old going on 40.
DeleteIt looks as if you are about to throw him over that balcony !
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrid thought Frances! And there was me thinking you were a nice lady!
DeleteSuch a look of concentration on his little face.
ReplyDeleteWhen he wasn't looking at me, he was looking around the restaurant like a security man.
Delete"Please buy me a Manchester United shirt Grandad not a Hull one - please!"
ReplyDeleteSadly, it is likely he will become a Chelsea fan like the maternal side of his family.
DeleteHe has learnt a few Yorkshire phrases by now and one of them has come to mind.
ReplyDeleteYes it's: "Ah reet love thee Grandpa!"
DeleteA moving photo. Little Zach intently and quizzingly looking at his Grandpa. Also a reminder of how, as children - maybe even as adults, we are vulnerable to those who hold us. Zach and your granddaughters appear to be in good hands.
ReplyDeleteU
You can almost hear the wheels in his little head turning...
ReplyDeleteI could hear them. It was like being next to a Volvo engine.
DeleteHe has such a calm and placid expression. I think he may be a reincarnated Buddhist monk!
ReplyDeleteHe certainly has the hairstyle for a Buddhist monk!
DeleteThe most documented generations in the history of the world, will it change anything in the future, 80 year from now, when he can look at photos of people spanning 150 years of world history. Great photo, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere are so few pictures of me as a child and my father was into amateur photography! Nowadays children in the west are snapped like film stars.
DeleteI had the same thought as Jennifer but was not bold enough to express it. I'm glad she did because I love that picture of that thoughtful, curious, obviously brilliant little boy.
ReplyDeleteA moment before and a moment later his smile was bright.
DeleteWhat a beautiful, sweet face on that little guy!
ReplyDeleteDon'y you mean the big guy?
DeleteZach gives good face!
ReplyDeleteI have self-censored my follow up comment!
Delete"Look deeply into my eyes." I'm not sure which of you is doing the mesmerizing. Perhaps it's mutual.
ReplyDeleteYes. We were staring each other down.
DeleteI love the way he's looking at you. So intent!
ReplyDeleteBabies have to have a lot of trust in the adults who care for them.
