Peaceful

She is my third grandchild. Little Margot. Born  on November 2nd last year. She hardly ever cries and seems supremely contented. She continues to feed on her mother's milk which must be remarkably nutritious.

Of course I have held her in my arms many times. She is now quite a weight! I look into her sparkly sapphire blue eyes and sometimes sing to her. As well as loving her, I also get the feeling that she is very peaceful. It is the word that comes to my mind each time I see her. I suppose this might change as time carries us forward but at the moment she radiates peacefulness.

I never applied that term to Phoebe, nor to my own two children when they were babies but with Little Margot there is a calm contentment about her, an acceptance of  what life is.

Below, I wonder who placed her in the laundry basket?  And if you think it was me then you're wrong.

  1. Oh my goodness, Phoebe and Margot look alike. They quite beautiful. Imagine being born contented and easy going. I can't imagine that but I'm so thankful that there are people and babies in the world like that.

    1. Surely it cannot last forever but possibly personalities can be established in babyhood.

  2. Margot really is so adorable. Calm and peaceful often happens in second or later babies. The firstborn sometimes picks up on minor tensions in the parents as they learn this new job of parenting, "am I doing it right? what if I make a mistake?"

  3. She is a beautiful sight to behold. But just wait until she's a teenager with blue hair and a pierced nose. Then you'll wonder . . .

  5. Putting littles in laundry baskets is a mother's or grandmother's trick, I reckon, so I'm guessing Shirley.
I think if young Margot appears very peaceful, she will probably retain that lifelong.

    3. It's not a holiday. It's business. Meeting, presentations, media work etc. and then down to Melbourne for a couple of days. However, he got to see Bondi Beach yesterday.

  6. She's a ray of sunshine! If only all babies could have such peace and contentment.
Is Phoebe settling into her role as big sister?

  8. What a beautiful contented baby she looks. Let there be no flare-ups, as I listened to my two granddaughters yesterday one winding the other up, between the two sisters.

  10. Seeing that first photo of her together with your drawn profile picture of yourself in the top right corner of my computer screen, I'm struck by quite a resemblance between the two of you! :)

  11. What a lucky man you are to have such a beautiful and contented granddaughter. I agree with River's comments about a first child. Phoebe was the steep learning curve and Margot has benifitted from that. Is Phoebe still happy with her little sister?

  16. I think second babies are sometimes like that- peaceful and accepting and full of smiles. She does favor her sister and thus, is beautiful.

  20. She does appear very contented. I don't know if there is much truth to the thought that babies pick up on the moods of their mothers.
