"Dakota"

"Dakota" is the song that marked the beginning of this new year for me. It was featured on the now traditional BBC TV New Year's Eve show - "Jules Holland's Hootenanny". It is by a Welsh group called The Stereophonics and written principally by the band's lead singer - Kelly Jones. I am sure that several people who visit this blog will be very familiar with the song but for those who do not know it, I hope you will give it a listen. I have also added some of the lyrics so that you can sing along!

Thinkin' 'bout thinkin' of you
Summertime think it was June
Yeah, I think it was June
Layin' back head on the grass
Chewing gum havin' some laughs
Yeah, havin' some laughs

You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one

Drinkin' by drinkin' for two
Drinkin' with you
When drinkin' was new
Sleepin' in the back of my car
We never went far
We didn't need to go far

You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one
You make me feel like the one
Make me feel like the one
The one

  1. It's just as well I live alone. My singing would ensure I remain so. Remy and Shama put up with my squawking...they do give me weird looks when I start singing, though!

Perhaps I should listen to this song a few times...upon first listening it hasn't done much for me....bit of a hotch-potch...but I'll endeavour not to be too hasty in my opinion. :)

    1. I can imagine you singing this in the manner of Janis Joplin. You might need to buy little ear muffs for the cats.

  3. Is this an allusion to a misspent youth? I love music but not this. ;)

    1. The Stereophonics happened long after my youth had passed by Thelma. It is their most popular song but you don;t have to like it.
