Pictures

I love this picture of our Phoebe. She is now a day old. Frances took the photograph with her smartphone. As I write, they are both still in the maternity hospital.
But this is the very first picture that was ever taken of her. She is in the midwife's arms and she is singing, "Tutti frutti, oh Rudy / A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo!" See how she grasps the imaginary microphone so expertly:-

    1. No I haven't Jennifer. It looks like mother and baby will stay in the maternity hospital a second night. Just a precautionary measure.

  2. Of course she is the. most beautiful baby in the universe at this moment! Glad that your daughter could stay in the comfort of maternal/baby care for more than the 12 hours afforded us in this country. Great idea for you to have purchased daily papers on the date of her birth. Brilliant. You are a fab grand dad!

    1. Normally in England new mothers and babies have to leave maternity hospitals within a few hours of the birth but Frances and Phoebe are staying in for a second night. Nothing to worry about though.

  4. She looks adorable all swaddled and wearing that pretty little beanie (Aussie for knitted head covering usually worn in Winter). She looks like a May Gibbs (Australian children's author) character from Sugglepot and Cuddlepie.

  5. She is beautiful....and I am not one to think all babies are ! The hat she has in the first picture looks just like the one I knitted for my first grandchild (Girl) though it was purple!

  10. What a perfect, beautiful little bud of life! Oh my, how I envy you and Shirley. Getting to be grandparents. Holding those little hands, pinching those little cheeks, smelling the sweetness of a new baby's smell. All the wonders of the earth can be found in that lovely little bundle that has come to all of you.

New borns are often quite unattractive, not that you ever say that about a new baby, but Phoebe actually looks quite sweet.

    1. I agree with Steve. Most newborns don't look all that great for a couple of weeks, which of course you would never say aloud. Your granddaughter, however, is one of those rare newborns that looks pretty like a little doll!

You all must be over the moon! What a sweet little bud of a baby girl. What a blessing.

  13. Oh she's beautiful. How wise of Frances and Stewart to make that decision to move back to Sheffield. Technology is wonderful but it is no substitute for a cuddle and the smell of a newborn baby. My knitting needles are now in overdrive in anticipation of our own mystery delivery in April.
